On the carnivorous tendencies of ponies: So, one thing that's been discussed a fair bit in the fandom is whether ponies would (under any circumstances) consume meat. Though many stories portray them as being revolted by the very idea, it's a less certain thing than you might think - real equines have been known to occasionally display carnivorous tendencies.
More importantly, these are magical little ponies. Pegasi, in particular, are sometimes portrayed with a taste for seafood - sometimes it's a tribe-wide thing, and sometimes limited to coastal-living pegasi who have developed a taste for the high-protein food they augment their diets with. Sometimes this is directly called out as being due to living in an area where mass-farming can be hard, although the validity of this in a setting with Earth Ponies' green hooves is iffy.
(Humorously, in one setting an actual carnivore is outright horrified when a pegasus drags a crab up, cracks the shell with a single hoof-blow, and promptly starts devouring it. It's not the meat-eating, it's that a cute little pony could be capable of doing that.)
What do you think? Do ponies (either in general, or pegasi specifically) have any undisclosed carnivorous habits? How might this be viewed in Equestria? Do they need to skulk around shadowy corners or hidden away inside their homes, or is it something tolerated (if disliked) by most other ponies?
EDIT: I'm mostly talking about actual meat here. It's pretty clear ponies have no particular issue eating eggs.
