Hello and again welcome to your weekly dose of 'Child, you have lost it, it belongs to us': 'This Week on the Plounge' wherein I inform you, the fine folks of the mane sub, what's been going on at your favourite sister subreddit, the Plounge, this past week.
Wait, what is this Plounge you speak of?
The Plounge, or more formally the MLP Lounge is /r/mylittlepony's sister subreddit. Designed to be a place where you can free of the tyranny of rules 3 and 4. A chill place for bronies or anyone to talk in a SFW chat centric environment. It can be found over at /r/MLPLounge. (most of us browse by /new though). Oh and BPM is nice to have. Even if you're allergic to using emotes yourself you'll miss a lot of extra context without it.
What some casual conversation with a sprinkling of ponies? Come over to this introductions thread and meet some people. Don't worry there's also a topic so it ain't just "hi!" "hi" awkward silence.

So, because it's No-Pics Thursday (September 13th, 2018) today, you know what that means...
It's time for the Weekly Fanfic Recommendation LINK-SWAP Game thread to continue!
Anyways, THE RULES (read 'em carefully):
Post a link to a fanfiction you like (can be your own as well - it's okay to self-promote), with or without a short blurb.
Important: Reply to someone else's post with a link to a fanfiction you think they might like, based on their choices.
Put each of your choices in a separate post if you want to make sure to get a recommendation based on each one. You may reply to someone else's reply, either to you or to someone else. Please make long discussion threads, they introduce a healthy bit of exploration and can help us find new interests! And that's it!
PLEASE COMPLETE BOTH STEPS 1 and 2. Don't just show up and ask for recommendations if you're not willing to provide any. I'll start the first few threads myself, and reply with a gentle reminder if you forget.
IMPORTANT NOTE. Thanks to /u/BookHorseBot (many thanks to their creator, /u/BitzLeon), you can now use the aforementioned bot to easily post the name, description, views, rating, tags, and a bunch of other information about a fic hosted on Fimfiction.net. All you need to do is include "{NAME OF STORY}" in your comment (without quotes), and the bot will look up the story and respond to your comment with the info. It makes sharing stories really convenient. You can even lookup multiple stories at once.
Ready? Set? LET"S GO! Also, feel free to self-promote in here!

I know it's a bit early, but Halloween's around the bend(more or less) so here's a good ol' Halloween YCH :3

I need some advice. No matter what I do, my horse keeps getting thrush and his frogs are torn up. He has a stall that gets cleaned once a day and is turned out in a pen with dry sand. His feet get picked almost every day.
The problem started last year when I was having trouble reaching my farrier and he ended up going 13 weeks between trims. When the farrier did see him, his frogs were pretty torn up and he had thrush. The farrier didn't know if the frog damage or the thrush came first. I applied thrush buster religiously and it seemed to clear up, but his frogs continue to be in rough shape.
My horse now gets his feet trimmed every 6 weeks and the state of his frogs is not getting better. On average the thrush comes back every other month. The farrier says we are doing all that can be done, but I'm not sure I trust him. It just seems unlikely that there is nothing that can be done. I have looked into other farriers and will continue to do so, but I have had a lot of trouble getting anyone to call me back.
I appreciate any insight you can offer.
Edited because my writing style drives me crazy
There are always things about the show I want to talk about, but I'd rather not always dedicate an entire full blown thread to it or it's never the right time to mention because no one would care. Maybe it's a thought that could be answered quickly enough to end discussion or something insignificant and stupid brewing in the back of your head for awhile! Anything you want to throw out to r/mylittlepony and say your piece!
Is there anything you've wanted to mention lately but never got around to it? Anything you want to speak up about for a bit? Any pony topic at all?
Hi horse friends from all over the world headed to WEG! I got into town on Tuesday afternoon to attend the opening ceremonies and I'm on day two of dressage. I found it impossible to find info ahead of time so I thought I'd share my thoughts so maybe I can help others.
Parking was my #1 concern going in. I paid to park on private property and it was 100% the way to go. Ignore signs for WEG and get off at exit 170. Go just a hair north and look for people with signs at the corner of Abrams Moore Rd. They're charging a hair more than official parking but they'll give you a multi day deal. They're shuttling people in a golf cart and cars or you can take the official shuttle to/from lot E with no special credentials required. No walking across the state highway to the venue allowed. I've heard official shuttle wait times can be up to an hour from the fairgrounds.
All the stupid rules. They went way overboard with restrictions but they're not enforcing like crazy. Go ahead and bring a not clear bag or a bit more food but don't be an asshole and go overboard because that'll slow down security.
Water. They suck about having water available. I've only heard of a few water fountains in existence and only one is cool water. It's in the main clock tower building. If you're facing the building Legends Grille is on the left and Blue Ginger Sushi is on the right. Go around the right side of the building behind the sushi restaurant and there will be an entrance with water fountains.
Bonus while you're using the water fountain you're also at the least crowded permanent bathroom that I've found. Plenty of porta-potties around but I like to wash my hands.
Beer and wine it's wicked expensive at official concession booths but the general store sells beer and wine at normal convenience store process.
Food. The general store also had reasonably priced food. Not great prices or selection but on par with a convenience store. There are a ton of food trucks toward the back of the vendor village. Lunch will cost you $12-22 but it's mostly legit good food trucks.
Print your tickets if you can. I didn't bother printing my tickets because, hey I always have my phone on me, right?! The QR codes scan better from a print out than phones so that's delayed me a few times. Also, it's way easier to get in with coffee in one hand and nachos in the other if you have your ticket printed and in a clear lanyard. Juggling coffee, nachos, and phone is not easy.
Bring a poncho - they're not selling any on site. Plenty of nice rain coat for purchase but no just in case of emergency ponchos.
Chillfuck out and enjoy the competition. I can understand being an angry endurance fan but the dressage competition has been stellar. Is there some mud and confusion and chaos, yes but damnit you're here for the horses so calm down about the other shit and enjoy the show!
This is the thread for discussing anything pertaining to Fanfiction in general. Like your ideas, thoughts, what you're reading, etc. This differs from my Fanfic Recommendation Link-Swap Thread, as that focuses primarily on recommendations. That will be posted in a few hours.
Although, if you like, you can talk about fics you don't necessarily recommend but found entertaining.

Hi there! It's Thursday again and that means another chance to talk about what's been happening around here and how you feel about it!
Same as every other time, feel free to discuss whatever it is you'd like regarding our little subreddit good or bad. If you're unhappy we'll try our best to fix whatever problem you're having!
If you want to talk about the MLP fandom in general, that's fine too!
But some people may not want to talk about comics or anything else that hasn't happened yet, so you should be nice and hide those conversations from those people by using the spoiler tag.
If you don't know how it's as easy as making an emote:
[It has ponies!](/spoiler)
Becomes: It has ponies!
And if you're not wanting to discuss the subreddit or community specifically you can also check out the weekly off-topic thread here!!!!!
It might sound ridiculous given the dragonfly wings and insect-part-naming scheme for most of the named Changelings, but there is at least some indication that the Changelings origins are far more botanical than even they may realize.
Consider that in the comics the Changelings are depicted as being born from a withered tree that was soaked in the runoff from a cemetery and grew warped and twisted with magic over the years. The swarm is shown bursting forth from inside the tree on mass, a buzzing black cloud of pony shaped insects.
Consider also that in the show Chrysalis seems to know of a spell to animate trees and give them the form and shape of ponies. The spell is not perfect of course, as the clones seem to lack the positive attributes of their originals, but they are a close enough facsimile to fool the real thing and when the Tree of Harmony 'destroys' them they revert to harmless pieces of wood.
If the Changelings are in fact plant rather than animal based it would go a long way to explaining their colorful change after the hive decides to share love instead of steal it. Nearly every changeling seems to have a base coloring of grass, leaf, or moss green and then their eyes and extremities like their wings and shells that come in more striking colors like flowers or fruits. Even before they transform the Changelings have a withered and warped look to them, more like a gnarled piece of wood riddled with holes.
The concept of 'plant' animals isn't even foreign to MLP, where creatures like Timber Wolves, Timber Bears, and Cragodiles are common place.
So what do you think? Are the Changelings really a race of plant creatures with insect-like qualities?
So there is a rumor going about that the final villain of FiM is going to be a necromancer. Up until now the concept of undead in the MLP universe has mostly been dismissed as mere superstition. Things like the headless horse and zombie ponies are just the stuff of campfire stories, Ogres & Oubliettes antagonists, and Nightmare Night decorations.
However, the concept of undeath does exist in Equestria, and it does stand to reason that this idea came from somewhere.
So how exactly do you think Necromancy works in Equestria? Is it some fire spell that requires ritual and sacrifice to unlock the realm of death itself or is it just another spell any unicorn could learn if they bothered to? Is it something only an Alicorn could do?
Do you think the villain will use the dead as a simple mindless army or do you think it will be a 'blackest night' scenario where they will be raising previously dead enemies and allies alike as champions of undeath who have all their memories intact but have been twisted into something horrifying by their unholy resurrection?
How spooky do you think MLP is willing to get?
