Unofficial Episode Discussion Thread: Season 9 Premiere "The Beginning of the End"
So I realized that we will be in the middle of the Hiatus for a while and so a thought occurred to me. Some of the highlights of watching the episodes from Season 8 as they premiered was reacting and discussing the episodes with y'all in real time. We are now starting the Season 9 rewatch today.
So following up on our previous thread, is the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Season 9 Premiere "The Beginning of the End" parts 1 and 2 . So go watch via whatever means you can and come back to discuss this early episode below.
And here is a link to the Season 8 finale "School Raze" from yesterday if you want to chime in and discuss the precious episodes in case you missed the previous threads.
No really. Y'all are more then welcome to add/contribute to the previous discussions. Really.
So I realize it's a bit late in the game to do so but I have compiled a few masterlists of all of the Unofficial Episode Discussion Threads we have discussed by each season we have watched them for easier access to comment on, read, look back on what we have said, and other such useful whatnots.
Unofficial Episode Discussion Masterlist: Season 1
Unofficial Episode Discussion Masterlist: Season 2
Unofficial Episode Discussion Masterlist: Season 3
Unofficial Episode Discussion Masterlist: Season 4
Unofficial Episode Discussion Masterlist: Season 5
Unofficial Episode Discussion Masterlist: Season 6
Unofficial Episode Discussion Masterlist: Season 7
Unofficial Episode Discussion Masterlist: Season 8
Unofficial Episode Discussion Masterlist: Equestria Girls
Unofficial Episode Discussion: My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic- The Movie
Here and here is a link to the Premiere over on Dailymotion, I am unsure if it is on Netflix yet, so whenever you are ready go ahead and watch it, discuss it down below, and enjoy.
Going forward with these discussion threads we have this in store: Season 9, I shall also be making a masterlist for Season 9 as well as we go through it. We'll be doing these discussions on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, etcetera I AM asking y'all what time EST would be best for y'all going forward for these threads?

This Week on the Plounge (Hot Out Edition)
Hello and again welcome to your weekly dose of 'uweh!?': 'This Week on the Plounge' wherein I inform you, the fine folks of the mane sub, what's been going on at your favourite sister subreddit, the Plounge, this past week.
Wait, what is this Plounge you speak of?
The Plounge, or more formally the MLP Lounge is /r/mylittlepony's sister subreddit. Designed to be a place where you can free of the tyranny of rules 3 and 4. A chill place for bronies or anyone to talk in a SFW chat centric environment. It can be found over at /r/MLPLounge. (most of us browse by /new though). Oh and BPM is nice to have. Even if you're allergic to using emotes yourself you'll miss a lot of extra context without it.
What some casual conversation with a sprinkling of ponies? Come over to this introductions thread and meet some people. Don't worry there's also a topic so it ain't just "hi!" "hi" awkward silence.

- It's hot out.

#mylittlepony - #General Fanfiction Discussion Thread
General Fanfiction Discussion Thread
This is the thread for discussing anything pertaining to Fanfiction in general. Like your ideas, thoughts, what you're reading, etc. This differs from my Fanfic Recommendation Link-Swap Thread, as that focuses primarily on recommendations. Every week these two threads will be posted at alternate times.
Although, if you like, you can talk about fics you don't necessarily recommend but found entertaining.
IMPORTANT NOTE. Thanks to /u/BookHorseBot (many thanks to their creator, /u/BitzLeon), you can now use the aforementioned bot to easily post the name, description, views, rating, tags, and a bunch of other information about a fic hosted on Fimfiction.net. All you need to do is include "{NAME OF STORY}" in your comment (without quotes), and the bot will look up the story and respond to your comment with the info. It makes sharing stories really convenient. You can even lookup multiple stories at once.

#horses - #Fear of riding/horses?
Fear of riding/horses?
Hi!
First of all, I'd like to apologize in advance for any mistake. English is not my mother language... Also, this probably takes some time to explain. Background:
So basically when I was 8 years old I was a huge horse fan and I learnt riding at a local requestrian centre with Iceland horses. I was riding there for about 4 years. The riding instructor wasn't the best and I actually never properly learned how to saddle up and bridle (?) a horse.
Since I was self concious about this fact and also intimidated by the harsh instructor I did a lot mistakes which angered the female Instructor even more and my shyness evolved into actual fear of going to my riding lessons. I also got scared by the thought of riding one of the horses because they seemed to feel my fear and use it to their advantage (as in they did what they wanted while I was riding on them).
Unfortunately, I was too dumb and maybe also too stubborn to tell my parents about it, so one day I was galloping and should change from left hoof to right hoof (I don't know how it's called in english and if it's really like this but I hope you know what I mean...) and I couldn't. I just couldn't control the horse and I was scared and the screaming of my instructor didn't help. So I kinda lost control and fell. I didn't get hurt, only got some bruises but I was - or atleast that's what I thought until recently - scarred for life. I stopped coming to the riding lessons, begged my parents to let me drop them and then never got close to a horse again.
But recently I started to get closer to a friend of mine whose a horse owner. She's from my class and her parents and sister all know how to ride horses. She once took me to see her boy when I told her about my past experiences with horses. I was even allowed to ride him. It turned out that I really had a trauma because I couldn't stop shaking when we got to the stable. There were a lot of horses - who would've thought - and I got so nervous because they were huge! Iceland horses are actually ponies I think so the difference was big. But somehow I felt brave enough to ride him when she asked me if I wanted to. So I did. And it felt weird. Mainly because I literally didn't have any skills and knowledge anymore from my former lessons. And because he was huge and seemed to move differently than iceland horses.
So as I was sitting there on him (He's called Charmeur which means charmer in german) like a bag full of potatoes, I thought about my past crazy self about horses and I felt like I never actually stopped liking them. I was just super scared of them. And then I started to explore this subreddit and now I'm seriously thinking about horse riding again. But there are some things that I worry about...
For example the fact that I'm 18 and starting my last school year in 5 weeks. In my last year I will have these big exams which will decide if I can graduate and I know that if I start taking lessons again I will have to be a lot stricter with my free time, and I'm a super lazy person...
Also the place where I should learn again. I live in Switzerland and we do have a lot of equastrian centres but I live relatively far away from all of them and they are relatively expensive...
Additionally I don't want to bother my parents. I'm actually scared to tell them that I want to start riding again because I begged them to let me stop and back then they bought all this expensive equipment for me, only for it to be used for 2 years and then be given away for free.
But I also really want to learn it again. And it would be a sportive activity in my free time which would be good since I haven't been doing sports since I stopped playing tennis in 2014.
I don't really know what I'm looking for here. I just wanted to tell someone because it leaves a weight on my heart and I can't talk to my horse owner friend right now because she's somewhere in holidays without reception...
I'm scared that if I started again I wouldn't be able to properly explain to my new instructor how I feel about riding and my fear. I'm a really sensitive person and unfortunately I need a lot of support when I do things I'm scared of. Also I really need to take it slow. For me I would feel super relieved to take solo lessons. Just to be comfortable and feel save but I know solo lessons are very expensive and my parents probably wouldn't pay for that. But I think I'd rather give up on riding than be stressed out in a group with younger people who can handle their horses better than me.
I'm rambling, I need to stop...
I really reallyy don't know what I expected when I started to write this but maybe some of you experienced something similar and would like to share some advice on how they pulled through :)

#mylittlepony - #Analyzing Lessons - Or Not?
Analyzing Lessons - Or Not?
In this entry of this series, I'm gonna take a break from analyzing and ask you guys questions about the lessons instead
The Cutie Pox
Waiting for what your heart desires can be really hard. So, you may try to take a shortcut. But this dishonesty never works, because you didn't earn what your heart desired. The only cure is being honest with yourself, and others. And that's something every heart desires.
How well do you think this lesson applies to real life? Considering that the episode is about a magical potion, what real life short cuts do you think it applies to? This lesson seems entirely what TVTropes might call a Space Whale aseop, a story that delivers its moral with fantasy consequences that don't really translate to reality. On the other hand, in real life, things are usually considered "shortcuts" to a goal for a reason; because they're imperfect approximations of the actual goal.
May The Best Pet Win
I used to think the most important traits to look for in a pet, or any best friend, were all physical competitive abilities. But now I can see how short-sighted and shallow that was. Today I learned what the most important quality really is. A certain kind of spirit. A stick-to-it-ive-ness. A never give up, can-do attitude -- that's the mark of a real winner. And this tortoise has it.
How well do you think the episode argues for its moral? Do you think real people in the situation described in this or other episodes would take the same moral? What in-universe separates ponies taking the "right" moral from an episode to humans who are more prone to taking a less healthy one?
Mysterious Mare-Do-Well
it's great to be really good at something, but it's important to act with grace and humility. And I guess I should've also acted with grace and humility when others outshine me.
I might do a more proper analysis of this one next week since it's so controversial but for now, same questions as above. How well do you think the episode makes a case for its moral? How does it apply in real life?
I realize this reeeeaally reads like one of those school assignment you get in English class.
But at least there's ponies this time around!

Pony stuff you want to talk about but isn't worthy of a dedicated thread! #64
There are always things about the show I want to talk about, but I'd rather not always dedicate an entire full blown thread to it or it's never the right time to mention because no one would care. Maybe it's a thought that could be answered quickly enough to end discussion or something insignificant and stupid brewing in the back of your head for awhile! #mylittlepony - #How is Equestria Governed?
How is Equestria Governed?
So this came to me a moment ago when I realized something. . . outside of Princess Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and now Twilight, we have NEVER seen a political official higher then that of Mayor Mare.
I mean sure we have Prince Blueblood who seems to serve as a diplomat, as well as Fancy Pants and the other nobles, but otherwise there doesn't seem to be much of a political caste. The closest approximates being the Mayors of each city, sometimes a position shared with the sheriff, who may send representatives to Canterlot when the need arises.
These facts, as well as Princess Celestia being unable or unwilling to strike down Neighsay's decisions, has led me to one thought alone regarding how Equestria is run. Equestria is a Constitutional-Representative Absolute-Monarchy (Tetrarchy?). Equestria mostly exists as a bunch of City States or Townships that are allowed to function more or less autonomously, no federal governor, that follow laws set forth by Princess Celestia or those governmental cabinets that she has installed over the millenia. The Mayors of such towns are diplomatically chosen by the citizens of each city/township. Meanwhile Princess Celestia, and Luna, serve as near absolute Monarchs who have given over power to certain noble families/individuals as well as governmental agencies in order to delegate and manage the day to day ruling of Equestria.
Though I dare say that Twilight's eventual taking of the throne, alongside her friends, will greatly complicate matters I think. Not to mention whether or not the Crystal Empire exists as yet another Equestrian City State or as it's own Sovereign Nation.
These are my thoughts at how Equestria is run at the very least from what I have seen in the show itself reflecting these facts as well as some tertiary information from the comics. What do the rest of y'all think? Do you disagree with my assessment? Do you agree with it? Do you have your own thoughts or ideas on how Equestria is run? Let me know below.

My Little Pony on Reddit - At least it's a dry Meta Discussion
Hi there! It's Thursday again and that means another chance to talk about what's been happening around here and how you feel about it!
Same as every other time, feel free to discuss whatever it is you'd like regarding our little subreddit good or bad. If you're unhappy we'll try our best to fix whatever problem you're having!
If you want to talk about the MLP fandom in general, that's fine too!
But some people may not want to talk about comics or anything else that hasn't happened yet, so you should be nice and hide those conversations from those people by using the spoiler tag.
If you don't know how it's as easy as making an emote:
>!It has ponies!!<
And if you're not wanting to discuss the subreddit or community specifically you can also check out the weekly off-topic thread that will be up at noon Pacific time!!!!
