Hello and again welcome to your weekly dose of 'No-one's around to hat': 'This Week on the Plounge' wherein I inform you, the fine folks of the mane sub, what's been going on at your favourite sister subreddit, the Plounge, this past week.
Wait, what is this Plounge you speak of?
The Plounge, or more formally the MLP Lounge is /r/mylittlepony's sister subreddit. Designed to be a place where you can free of the tyranny of rules 3 and 4. A chill place for bronies or anyone to talk in a SFW chat centric environment. It can be found over at /r/MLPLounge. (most of us browse by /new though). Oh and BPM is nice to have. Even if you're allergic to using emotes yourself you'll miss a lot of extra context without it.
What some casual conversation with a sprinkling of ponies? Come over to this introductions thread and meet some people. Don't worry there's also a topic so it ain't just "hi!" "hi" awkward silence.

So, because it's No-Pics Thursday (September 6th, 2018) today, you know what that means...
It's time for the Weekly Fanfic Recommendation LINK-SWAP Game thread to continue!
Anyways, THE RULES (read 'em carefully):
Post a link to a fanfiction you like (can be your own as well - it's okay to self-promote), with or without a short blurb.
Important: Reply to someone else's post with a link to a fanfiction you think they might like, based on their choices.
Put each of your choices in a separate post if you want to make sure to get a recommendation based on each one. You may reply to someone else's reply, either to you or to someone else. Please make long discussion threads, they introduce a healthy bit of exploration and can help us find new interests! And that's it!
PLEASE COMPLETE BOTH STEPS 1 and 2. Don't just show up and ask for recommendations if you're not willing to provide any. I'll start the first few threads myself, and reply with a gentle reminder if you forget.
IMPORTANT NOTE. Thanks to /u/BookHorseBot (many thanks to their creator, /u/BitzLeon), you can now use the aforementioned bot to easily post the name, description, views, rating, tags, and a bunch of other information about a fic hosted on Fimfiction.net. All you need to do is include "{NAME OF STORY}" in your comment (without quotes), and the bot will look up the story and respond to your comment with the info. It makes sharing stories really convenient. You can even lookup multiple stories at once.
Ready? Set? LET"S GO! Also, feel free to self-promote in here!
This is the thread for discussing anything pertaining to Fanfiction in general. Like your ideas, thoughts, what you're reading, etc. This differs from my Fanfic Recommendation Link-Swap Thread, as that focuses primarily on recommendations. That will be posted in a few hours.
Although, if you like, you can talk about fics you don't necessarily recommend but found entertaining.

Yep! I've decided to continue /u/SnickyMcNibits's original gameshow thread with a second round.
The rules of this game are simple: I'll give you 12 next generation OCs, and for each and every one of them, you have to guess which two ponies are the parents. Remember, (almost) anything goes with shipping, so the parents do not have to be a male / female pair.

Twenty-first release with 169078 stories
Fimfarchive is a project which aims to release all stories available on Fimfiction, together with their metadata, as a single archive. The archive is organized by author and could be used for backup, offline reading, or data mining.
A new version will be released each season via BitTorrent, approximately once every three months. When suitable, an xdelta3 patch will also be provided for users who do not wish to redownload unchanged stories.
Note that the archive contains a large number of files. Unzipping it to your file system may not be necessary if the archive is to be used together with some application. If you are a developer, reading directly from the ZIP-file may be preferable.

Floof is wonderful!
I have 2 horses that live in a pasture pretty much 100% of the time. They are the first horses I've owned by myself and due to living relatively remotely, I'm not really plugged into any local horsey community for other sources of advice.
I've had them for 4 years now and (knock on wood) they've been very happy and healthy. I live in Northern Europe and we have good grass such that they have plenty of nutrition over the summer months.
In autumn as leaves fall and the grass becomes sparser, I start supplementing with more hay and food as we go into the winter months. They've kept steady healthy weights over the 4 years and I've felt pretty confident in my own judgement on feeding etc.
This year, however, the summer weather was completely screwy. We had insane heatwaves that lasted months not days and no rain. The grass died and I started to feed them food and hay in July as if it was autumn/winter.
Things finally cooled down to "normal" a few weeks ago and we have had rains again. Grass is growing and there are still leaves on the trees. I stopped feeding them the hay and the food but I just don't feel confident that this was the right decision.
Their weight is still looking good and they are munching the grass they have, but I just don't know enough about grass and growth during abnormal weather patterns to know if there's enough nutrition there or if I should still be supplementing what they have.
Inevitably we will be heading into our autumn feeding schedule soon anyway but I was just hoping folk here might have some advice as to what to look out for / how to judge the health of pastures and what they typically rely on to make decisions on adding hay or grain to their horses' diets.
They are leisure horses and only get ridden 3 times a week on average due to our work schedules.
I see this around from time to time that some fans think that Starlight Glimmer never properly showed remorse for her actions, nor apologized to their satisfaction. They seem to equate this to the idea that a Starlight never really learned her lesson and thus should be punished. This impression seems to be re-enforced in their minds thanks to episodes like Every Little Thing She Does and the more recent Road to Friendship.
The problem is that this perspective seems to largely be based around misconceptions about the feelings of those Starlight wronged along with misconceptions about Starlight's actions as well as the Pony herself.
For starters, many fans think a Starlight was forgiven too quickly. After enslaving a village to her will and nearly destroying Equestria, they say, Starlight deserves to be locked up in Tartarus. But here's the thing... Starlight didn't actually do either of those things.
To begin with, Starlight didn't enslave the ponies in our town. Yes she convinced them to give up their cutie marks and live in her village, promising them friendship and acceptance, but aside from the Mane 6 she never forced any pony to give up their cutie marks. When Starlight's duplicity is revealed, that she had to keep her Cutie Mark and special talents with magic in order to continue to remove cutie marks, the villagers aren't mad that she 'stole their cutie marks' or 'forced them to be her slaves', they are upset that she lied to them. They thought Starlight was their friend and equal, and it's finding out that she isn't that makes them rebel. It's important to note that even before Starlight's redemption that the villagers choose to remain living in Starlight's town, having no problem continuing the lives that they have led there, just with their cutie marks. Starlight's apology to these ponies hat just wanted to be her friends is handled swiftly, so fans can be forgiven for overlooking this nuance, but the fact is that the ponies of Starlight's village never felt wronged the same way many fans felt that they should have felt wronged. They just wanted Starlight to be truthful with them and give them a chance to all be friends with their cutie marks and special talents.
As to the matter of Starlight nearly destroying Equestria, the way the Cutie Remark is structured makes it obvious that the alternate futures Twilight is seeing are just that: Alternate timelines that exist only if events in the ost had gone differently. The Equestria that Starlight and Twilight came from was never in any real danger or peril. Starlight never actually even sees any of the alternate timelines until Twilight forcefully takes her through the time vortex. It's after this that Starlight reveals the Cutie map is not only connected to everwhere in Equestria, but also everywhen, and she demonstrates that she can will them to any point that she likes up and down the timeline. The closest Starlight comes to causing real damage is when she almost destroys the spell she modified, which would have trapped Twilight and herself in an alternate timeline. Fortunately Twilight is able to talk her out of this, but it's no surprise that the rest of the Mane 6 are quick to forgive Starlight's actions in the Cutie Remark having not experienced them themselves and only having Twilight's explaination of the events to go on. They conclude rightfully that Starlight is too powerful to just be sent away, and after Starlight apologized for her actions they conclude that the best way to help her and help Equestria is to become her friends. Punishing her for 'crimes' only Twilight witnessed and that Starlight herself decided to undo wouldn't make any sense. Again, I agree that this part of the episode was rushed and that the reasoning might not have been made all that clear, but the actual impact of Starlight's actions were nullified by Starlight herself.
I do think Starlight has learned her lessons about lying to her friends and messing with forces she barely comprehends. Yes she has commuted other mistakes, such as concocting a mind control spell in Twilight's library and using it on her friends to try and complete multiple friendship lessons at once. She apologized for that and cleaned up the mess her actions made. She also sold Trixie's small wagon out from under her, thinking a more spacious wagon would be more beneficial for their trip to Saddle Arabia. She realized the wagon wasn't hers to sell and that she was mistaken in thinking the trade would fix anything, having almost lost her friendship with Trixie thanks to the bargain rather than resolving their travel problems.
Starlight is likely to continue to make mistakes, but what's important is that she hasn't made the same mistake twice so far. She's definately mischievous and she does have a cynically pragmatic side to her, but Starlight is a pony that is still doing her best to fit in and try not to overly rely on her prodigious magic power to attempt to fix all her problems.
It's ubderstandable if some fans don't like her and can't forgive her actions as readily as the ponies of Equestria can, but I hope with time and careful thought they'll eventually realize that the problems that they have with her are just problems that they personally have with her and not necessarily problems that are reflected in the show.
SCENARIO
Reality starts warping and twisting. After a nightmarish "storm", the Mane 7 look out and discover that Equestria has become a patchwork reality made up of all the different My Little Pony canons.
The fantastical world of My Little Pony 'n Friends.
The suburban world of My Little Pony Tales.
The sugary-sweet world of My Little Pony G3.
The modern-day meets high-fantasy world of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
The world of My Little Pony: G5 (We don't have much specific detail regarding this one, but that's what imagination is for!).
In the aftermath of this "reality hurricane", how do you imagine the various civilizations would get along?
How would the ponies of the G4 setting get along with their counterparts?
Over the years of MLPFIM we have seen many a villain enter and disappear without a word, yet there are others that we have seen stick around for better or for worse. Today I would like to discuss what has been my favorite, and y'alls favorite, villainous character progression.
Out of all of the villains I like to think that Sunset Shimmer's character progression and redemption has felt the most natural of the series. Granted I mostly chalk this up to two things: 1) She has to EARN the forgiveness of Canterlot High and is not instantly forgiven once she is hit with the Elements of Harmony/Friendship Kamehameha, and 2) Her empathetic nature, and fiery temper, allows her to continue being an interesting character that can continue to grow over time in the Equestria Girls movies and specials, of which there have been quite a few now. Sunset Shimmer started off as a power hungry student of Princess Celestia who chastised her for investigating the Magic Mirror, in a now non-canon comic I think. Sunset Shimmer wanted to be equal and help rule Equestria with the mare she idolized and so she in her rage at Celestia's refusal fled through the portal where she has ruled Canterlot High for three years. Enter the first movies and the start of her character progression. Starlight . . .is complicated. They tried to Sunset without giving the time Sunset had for her redemption. And don't get me wrong I love her character redeemed and without, her actions in the Road of Friendship episode show that she still has a LOT to learn about friendship and not being a control freak, her quick redemption has left many soured on the character. This is a bit of a weird one but from the comics. . .King Sombra. This Mad Tyrant has had all but zero flushing out in the show proper but in the comics has had several arcs based to his character, both of which are VERY VERY good and I highly recommend y'all seek them out if you find the time.
There are always things about the show I want to talk about, but I'd rather not always dedicate an entire full blown thread to it or it's never the right time to mention because no one would care. Maybe it's a thought that could be answered quickly enough to end discussion or something insignificant and stupid brewing in the back of your head for awhile! Anything you want to throw out to r/mylittlepony and say your piece!
Is there anything you've wanted to mention lately but never got around to it? Anything you want to speak up about for a bit? Any pony topic at all?
Well of all the corny animes i have found possibly the corniest.
I was thinking about watching MLP for 2-3 months and finally decided to join in on the bandwagon.
Well, atleast i wasn't wrong about 2 things atleast:
1-All the sweet, sweet corn
2-I will like MLP(i don't know yet if thats a positive or negative)
3-Holly Hell the corn.
So in conclussion, i will wecome myself to this subreddit and the seris.
May God have mercy on my soul.
Hi there! It's Thursday again and that means another chance to talk about what's been happening around here and how you feel about it!
Same as every other time, feel free to discuss whatever it is you'd like regarding our little subreddit good or bad. If you're unhappy we'll try our best to fix whatever problem you're having!
If you want to talk about the MLP fandom in general, that's fine too!
But some people may not want to talk about comics or anything else that hasn't happened yet, so you should be nice and hide those conversations from those people by using the spoiler tag.
If you don't know how it's as easy as making an emote:
[It has ponies!](/spoiler)
Becomes: It has ponies!
And if you're not wanting to discuss the subreddit or community specifically you can also check out the weekly off-topic thread that will be up at noon Pacific time!!!!
