We've talked a lot about Alicorn andUnicorn Magic here on these here reddit pages, but far too often we overlook the magic of Pegasi, Earth Ponies, and other miscellania. We often see in the show that the Pegasi, in particular Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, are capable of utilizing their internal magic to create weather patterns or clouds out water vapor. Some are seen to develop other strength's like Rainbow Dash's strength and capability of causing the Rainboom and where Fluttershy has developed The Stare an ability that allows her to halt any creature in her path. While it is not known if other Pegasi are capable of developing or learning these physical based magical powers it is something to think about and discuss.
Likewise the Earth Ponies of Equestria are typically seen as having greater strength and Endurance to that of the other pony tribes to the point that some have taken up rock farming, something considered quite strange to us, in order to crack open Geodes for jewels and other such valuables with their very hooves with no damage to the precious insides. Other Earth Ponies, like the Apples of Appleloosa, managed to create a small haven of harvestable Apple Trees in a desert like area something that we ourselves have quite a hard time doing even today. The Magic of Earth Ponies is nothing to sneeze at and one would be a fool to do so.
Finally we come down to the magical artifacts and scrolls so often seen throughout the series. On the question of Magical Scrolls do we know exactly how they are seen to work? If they require a Unicorn's external magic to utilize them or if the internal magic of a Pegasi or Earth Pony could make use of them? The Magical Artifacts of the setting all seem to have been created by otherwise supernatural beings like the Tree of Harmony.
These are interesting topics I think and they are ones that are often overlooked by the fandom I think in favor of jokes about Unicorn supremacy and what not. Let me know what y'all think below if you would and if you disagree or have your own theories on the subjects.
Does anyone remember this masterpiece?
I do.
The one year anniversary is just around the corner, and i have a full day of pony related content to read and watch.
Now i've been thinking. If I want to rewatch this movie, how could I enjoy it to its fullest at home? I have a big 52" flatscreen TV and some popcorn but how could i reexperience this movie just like in the theatre?
Could you guys give me some ideas on how to reexperience it at home just like at the theatres?
So, because it's No-Pics Thursday (September 27th, 2018) today, you know what that means...
It's time for the Weekly Fanfic Recommendation LINK-SWAP Game thread to continue!
Anyways, THE RULES (read 'em carefully):
Post a link to a fanfiction you like (can be your own as well - it's okay to self-promote), with or without a short blurb.
Important: Reply to someone else's post with a link to a fanfiction you think they might like, based on their choices.
Put each of your choices in a separate post if you want to make sure to get a recommendation based on each one. You may reply to someone else's reply, either to you or to someone else. Please make long discussion threads, they introduce a healthy bit of exploration and can help us find new interests! And that's it!
PLEASE COMPLETE BOTH STEPS 1 and 2. Don't just show up and ask for recommendations if you're not willing to provide any. I'll start the first few threads myself, and reply with a gentle reminder if you forget.
IMPORTANT NOTE. Thanks to /u/BookHorseBot (many thanks to their creator, /u/BitzLeon), you can now use the aforementioned bot to easily post the name, description, views, rating, tags, and a bunch of other information about a fic hosted on Fimfiction.net. All you need to do is include "{NAME OF STORY}" in your comment (without quotes), and the bot will look up the story and respond to your comment with the info. It makes sharing stories really convenient. You can even lookup multiple stories at once.
Ready? Set? LET"S GO! Also, feel free to self-promote in here!
Hello and again welcome to your weekly dose of 'How much is that in squirrels': 'This Week on the Plounge' wherein I inform you, the fine folks of the mane sub, what's been going on at your favourite sister subreddit, the Plounge, this past week.
Wait, what is this Plounge you speak of?
The Plounge, or more formally the MLP Lounge is /r/mylittlepony's sister subreddit. Designed to be a place where you can free of the tyranny of rules 3 and 4. A chill place for bronies or anyone to talk in a SFW chat centric environment. It can be found over at /r/MLPLounge. (most of us browse by /new though). Oh and BPM is nice to have. Even if you're allergic to using emotes yourself you'll miss a lot of extra context without it.
What some casual conversation with a sprinkling of ponies? Come over to this introductions thread and meet some people. Don't worry there's also a topic so it ain't just "hi!" "hi" awkward silence.

Every week there are up to two Plounge member of the 'day' AMAs! You can sign up here! AMAs since last week's TWOTP are...
Sprankton is doing a classic Plounge thing, a Pokemon playthrough told via screenshots and captions. You can suggest nicknames for pokemans even, wow audience participation!

This is the thread for discussing anything pertaining to Fanfiction in general. Like your ideas, thoughts, what you're reading, etc. This differs from my Fanfic Recommendation Link-Swap Thread, as that focuses primarily on recommendations. That will be posted in a few hours.
Although, if you like, you can talk about fics you don't necessarily recommend but found entertaining.

Hi there! It's Thursday again and that means another chance to talk about what's been happening around here and how you feel about it!
Same as every other time, feel free to discuss whatever it is you'd like regarding our little subreddit good or bad. If you're unhappy we'll try our best to fix whatever problem you're having!
If you want to talk about the MLP fandom in general, that's fine too!
But some people may not want to talk about comics or anything else that hasn't happened yet, so you should be nice and hide those conversations from those people by using the spoiler tag.
If you don't know how it's as easy as making an emote:
[It has ponies!](/spoiler)
Becomes: It has ponies!
And if you're not wanting to discuss the subreddit or community specifically you can also check out the weekly off-topic thread here!!!!!
We can assume that the Tree of Harmony chose Twilight's form because, as the Princess of Friendship/Element of Magic and the principal of the School of Friendship, Twilight best represents a "teacher" role.
In the future, if the Tree ever needed to test someone's friendship or provide exposition about a certain magical artifact or historical event, I assume that it would also take Twilight's appearance then.
However, I assume that it's not limited to just Twilight Sparkle.
If the Tree decided to make avatars of the rest of the Elements in order to communicate, under what circumstances would it do so?
Pinkie Pie
Fluttershy (This is the only one where I have my own idea, that the Tree would use her form in times where it needed to make itself as non-threatening as possible)
Rarity
Applejack
Rainbow Dash
Just how dangerous is Equestria? Is it largely a peaceful and serene land through which, in which one can live without much fear of attack, disaster, or poverty? Or is there a dark underlayer beneath the bright colors?
The show itself seems to wobble back and forth on this a lot of the time: On the one hand, for instance, the Everfree has been downgraded from "monster-infested hell-hole which all sane ponies fear" to "that place kids can go and play in, or deadbeat brothers camp out in". On the other, monster attacks are pretty much a regular basis, and for every genuinely kind and good character there also seems to be a dark counterpart.
Fortunately, that gives us plenty of room to spread our own imaginations. I've made no hints that I see Equestria as having a dark undercurrent only hinted at by the show:
It's a largely untamed land littered the pony settlements from which they impose order on the outside world. Outside their little bubbles of sanity and safety, monsters abound; when they wander into contact with pony civilization - either by accident or deliberate attack - the results are not without casualties.
The Royal Guard exists for a reason; aside from the monumental, cosmic threats the cast faces in the show itself, there are also a multitude of minor threats which must be faced down on a regular basis. Some are mindless monsters; others are those who have chosen to be threats: Bandits and the like.
Rogue storms coming from outside Equestria must be brought to heel, or risk damage to pony settlements. This is not without risk, though, as pegasi storm wranglers can be injured or killed by more violent storms.
And of course, the ponies themselves are no saints. They scam, they argue, they cheat - they are possessed of all the foibles and faults we are. A strong tribal-superiority element still lingers in certain areas, for all three tribes, and let's not even get into how they react to beings outside their control...
But what about all of you? What's your preferred perspective on this?
There are always things about the show I want to talk about, but I'd rather not always dedicate an entire full blown thread to it or it's never the right time to mention because no one would care. Maybe it's a thought that could be answered quickly enough to end discussion or something insignificant and stupid brewing in the back of your head for awhile! Anything you want to throw out to r/mylittlepony and say your piece!
Is there anything you've wanted to mention lately but never got around to it? Anything you want to speak up about for a bit? Any pony topic at all?
Hi! I'm a trainer looking at buying a GoPro to expand my business. I am totally new to this technology. Obviously I have heard of it, but I really know nothing about it. I am not sure what model to buy to suit my needs and don't want to spend more money than I need to. A quick search on the internet pretty much showed me that I could spend as much money as I want to on one, but I would rather not if I don't have to. I was hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on what model and/or accessories would be the best to go with.
Here's what I need to do with it:
*Document training sessions to monitor progress of horses or riders while keeping my hands free.
*Document rider POV footage
*Record and edit footage together for online clinics
*Potentially document horse POV footage
My needs are pretty simple, but it is a rough outdoor environment as you guys all know. I know that I am out of my depth here. I figured it was worth asking my fellow equestrians as some of you have probably already made a similar purchase for similar reasons. I did ask the gopro subreddit, but I feel like the advice of folks who know the demands of the horse world a bit better would be good advice to get. Any advice you can offer would be amazing!
Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone. I've been riding for a large portion of my life, but mostly as a kid.
I started riding again (Western -> English) and I'm realizing I really don't know any more than basic grooming and tack stuff. There are so many tools, different bits, and weird health things I see other riders using or treating that I have no idea about.
I tried Googling around but I can't seem to find any solid resources that cover everything I may need to know.
I'm considering leasing soon and I want to make sure I don't do anything very novice that can leave a horse injured.
Any recommendations?
So, we know that unicorns in Equestria have the ability to cast magical spells and other enchantments via the use of their horns. However, although we have seen the use of this ability in virtually every episode of the series, it is not immediately clear how unicorn magic actually works. That is, if you were a unicorn, what would it feel like to cast magic? What are the things you need to do for magic to work?
What do we know?
