Hello reddit, I just completed my first lesson after not being around horses for 10 years. I am so excited to be riding again! I'm taking lessons at a barn that starts students without stirrups so they can gain balance without relying on them for help. What are your thoughts on this approach? And how do you all deal with bruises on your sit bones? I am pretty boney and it's quite uncomfortable to be in the saddle even at a walk but especially at a trot. Which I'm certain can't be comfortable for the horse either! Any advice is welcome. Thank you :)
Do you board them or have someone come take care of them? Is it pricey?
