Hello and again welcome to your weekly dose of '/r/mylittlepony - rule 3': 'This Week on the Plounge' wherein I inform you, the fine folks of the mane sub, what's been going on at your favourite sister subreddit, the Plounge, this past week.
Wait, what is this Plounge you speak of?
The Plounge, or more formally the MLP Lounge is /r/mylittlepony's sister subreddit. Designed to be a place where you can free of the tyranny of rules 3 and 4. A chill place for bronies or anyone to talk in a SFW chat centric environment. It can be found over at /r/MLPLounge. (most of us browse by /new though). Oh and BPM is considered essential for optimum Plounging. (we don't mind the occasional blank post over there)
Up some casual conversation with a sprinkling of ponies? Come over to this introductions thread and meet some people.

So, because it's No-Pics Thursday (March 23rd, 2017) today, you know what that means...
It's time for the Weekly Fanfic Recommendation LINK-SWAP Game thread to continue!
And we're in week 21 of the Season 6 to Season 7 hiatus.
But, Season 7 is premiering on April 15!
Anyways, THE RULES (read 'em carefully):
Post a link to a fanfiction you like (can be your own as well - it's okay to self-promote), with or without a short blurb.
Important: Reply to someone else's post with a link to a fanfiction you think they might like, based on their choices.
Put each of your choices in a separate post if you want to make sure to get a recommendation based on each one. You may reply to someone else's reply, either to you or to someone else. Please make long discussion threads, they introduce a healthy bit of exploration and can help us find new interests! And that's it!
PLEASE COMPLETE BOTH STEPS 1 and 2. Don't just show up and ask for recommendations if you're not willing to provide any. I'll start the first few threads myself, and reply with a gentle reminder if you forget. Ready? Set? LET"S GO! Also, feel free to self-promote in here!

Good evening everypony, and welcome to Hooves Line Is It Anyway? On tonight's show... Never gonna give you up, Applejack!
Never gonna let you down, Rarity!
Never gonna run around and hurt you, Rainbow Dash!
Never gonna make you cry, Fluttershy!
Never gonna say goodbye, Pinkie Pie!
... and Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you, Twilight Sparkle! I'm your host and favorite emo royal Princess Luna, come on down and let's have some fun! Welcome to Hooves Line Is It Anyway, the show where everything is made up and the points don't matter. That's right, the points are just like reviews of a new EA game. Let's start off with our old favorite, Scenes from a Hat - this is for all our contestants. How this works is, before the show [or as comments in this thread] we asked our audience to write down scenes they'd like our performers to act out. We took the good ones and put them into this Rainbow Dash Fan Club hat we found at the thrift shop. Let's see how many our performers can think of, starting with...
If it's a shounen anime, what ridiculous and over-the-top attacks do the characters have?
If it's a slice-of-life anime, who's running late out of their house with a piece of toast in their mouth?
If it's anything like Madoka Magica, when does the pain and suffering end?
Go nuts.
This is the official place to discuss the 52nd installment of IDW's ongoing My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic comic series. Spoilers within!
Twilight and friends dive into the secret history of Equestria to find out the origin of the new villain, Shadowlock!
Keep any and all discussion relating to said comic in this thread! Making link submissions (say, from screencaps) is okay, but be sure to mark them as a spoiler and state what issue it is in the title for the benefit of those who might be behind!
Additionally, keep any discussion on recent entries in the Friends Forever series to its own thread (or spoiler it, assuming it relates to this discussion somehow)
(Want to get into the comics? Get 'em via IDW, Amazon, or eBay for physical copies, and Comixology, iTunes (General link), (#52) Amazon Kindle, or Yayponies for digital copies!)
Thanks to RainbowDashShellBash for compiling this information!
This popped into my head last night at work for some reason. Yes, I randomly think of pony at work sometimes. Maybe more than sometimes. Though its usually just songs.
I wonder how they're going to fit Apple Bloom into the whole situation with Applejack's parents.
We've already seen 2 flashbacks of AJ's past at two different periods. One when she was a young filly prior to getting her cutie mark, and the one in "Where the Apple Lies" where she's a bit older.
In both of those flashbacks, her parents were nowhere to be seen and she's seemingly already being cared for by Granny Smith. Heck, in the second one its pretty much outright stated that they're gone and not just off-camera since Granny Smith is in charge of the farm and AJ and Big Mac are "next in line" to be in charge, which they wouldn't be if the parents were still in the picture. Which is fine, they disappeared / died / whatever when she was young, simple enough.
Except... Apple Bloom. She was ALSO nowhere to be seen in either of those flashbacks. She clearly wouldn't have been in the first one, there's way too much of an age difference between AJ and AB for her to have been born by that point.
She could have conceivably been born for the second one, but she's nowhere to be seen anywhere there either, and if she were just a baby then the whole Apple family ending up in the hospital with a baby Apple Bloom left unattended would be a bit of a problem.
So what does that mean for the parents, then? How are they gone in all of AJ's flashbacks and yet Apple Bloom still exists? What, did they leave for a long period of time, came back at some point to drop Apple Bloom off at the farm, then disappear again? Did they disappear, come back, then die? Is Apple Bloom actually adopted?
Whatever the case, she's going to make things far more complicated. Unless they just leave it as a plot hole.
In the climax of The Cuite Map Twilight performs a spell that Starlight said she'd been studying for years without mastering. Twilight says she learns it because her friends "brought out the magic inside her".
I get how friendship taught her how to be a good friend and made her a princess, but I don't see how it would've made her better at magic. Is it just because of her alicornhood? Or the show equating "friendship" and "magic", thus unicorns with friends are more powerful by default?
