Horse head 'jerking' issues...
Hi all.
I bought an OTTB at the beginning of 2017 and he has been a great boy so far.
However, when he is stood still in the stable, he will sometimes suddenly jerk his head up, like when you catch yourself nodding off and suddenly lift your head, essentially jerking yourself awake. He is mentally 'there' in these moments though, as in wide awake. On occasion he will also do this whilst napping too though. Mostly whilst sunbathing and stood still but also can occur when eating and being groomed. Actually it usually a constant thing besides when ridden!
He isn't photosensitive but it's just a strange action I have noticed him do and feared it may be something psychological. I haven't called the vet yet as it doesn't seem to be bothering him at all and it seems quite minor.
