So I recently made the purchase of a lifetime in October & got my very first horse. He is a 5yr old (almost 6) fjord/quarter cross. He doesn't have many miles under his belt & is a bit green, but before I get yelled at let me say that he was the once in a lifetime horse. I have always been told by my trainers that I'll never be able to do hunter/jumper on a fjord... and that was exactly him! I've also been working with horses since I was a child and have leased out 3 horses before this.
Now, time for the actual questions.
I'm boarding him at a local show barn because they have some of the "best" trainers in the area. For starters, this barn doesn't turn out fall winter or spring because "they get enough exercise when they're ridden" which I'm really not a fan of... but they do have run ins which I guess is better than nothing. Now, I've worked with many green horses, but I've never trained one. He seems to dislike being ridden (backs up when I approach him with tack) and bolts a lot while we're riding. I ride him 3 days of the week and the trainer rides him 3 days a week, and a few of the times I've gone in to ride him he has had scabs on the sides of his mouth and just recently had a bad case of diarrhea. Whenever he bolts while we're riding or takes too long to transition, my trainers yell at me to "pull harder!" And "if he does that again rip his f***ing head off!" (They're obviously a little aggressive) He is also being trained to transition by pulling back on the reins while asking him to canter. Is this what training a green horse is supposed to be like? I understand there is a line between being his parent and being his friend, but I can't help but feel it's being crossed.

I came back home this morning from the bus stop at the highway, and, kid you not, I saw a horse lazily grazing off the grass. I approached and tested if it was friendly, and to my surprise, it was!
To make it short, I found the owner and sweetalked him into letting me ride it for a few minutes; And it felt great to finally be on top of a horse after decades of just watching them from afar while on the bus.
I made a million promises, among them to keep it clean and maintain its tack, all of which I intend to follow through if it gets me more rides (even if I have to pay to take the horse while doing all those tasks for free).
So here I am now, to ask you for sources to advanced horse cleaning and tack caring. I know the basics, but I have never had to take of a horse before. I'm in my mid 30s and this will be a nice challenge as well as another reason to stay fit after my vacations at the sea instead of being a couch potato and nesting at the computer until I lay eggs.

The MLP community has been going insane the last couple of days, ever since the announcement of the closing of G4. Hasbro essentially said that they will release season 9 and then produce another movie (this one in CGI/3D), which will transition to G5. Also, G4 is not over. I don't understand why so many people are just packing up; we still have a whole new season to look forward to.
Intro aside, a lot of interesting information has been 'released', but not confirmed. This includes concept images for the new characters. It appears that our favorite six ponies will transition with us, but with some... racial differences. While Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash will keep their traditional roles, Pinkie Pie will be re-imagined with wings, Fluttershy will be a unicorn, and- you guessed it- Twilight Sparkle will be an Earth Pony! This leads to another interesting piece of information- Supposedly, all ponies will be able to use magic.
One of the things that stood out the most to me was a change of audience. It was announced that My Little Pony will no-longer be rated TV Y. It will be rated TV FV (fantasy violence) and targeted towards everyone. This includes the teens and adults, who somehow fell in love with the children's show all those years ago. One reason for this, I believe, is the fact that the fandom community (consisting primarily of teens and adults) has drawn in more attention and almost as much revenue as the intended audience (maybe even more, I'm not sure). Another reason is that tv shows simply grow up. Remember Spongebob and the Muppets? They were children's shows once too.
While I have concerns for the well-being of the show we loved, I have heard nothing that actually verifies these concerns. I look forward to what G5 has for us.
In August of last year, my aunt purchased her first ever horse for her daughter. She didn't get papers or a checkup, and it turns out that the address and info they gave was false. So it seems to have been a scam.
My mom rode the horse when they first saw her and it was fine. It was only after the horse was delivered that the horse was limping.
Two vets came and looked at the horse and did x-rays. There is no visible injury. The horse has been on $100 medication + supplements since then, plus $350/month boarding. My aunt has spent $6000 on her treatment and my cousin has not rode her a single time.
The horse has no improvement. They're going to try a chiropractor and something else, and then that's it.
My aunt wants to send the horse "out to pasture", which means she'll spend $200/month for 20+ years on a horse we've had for 5 months. She isn't wealthy. There are many other things this money could go to, but she thinks she has to do this. She's only met the horse a couple times, so she isn't attached. Another family member is doing the care.
I want to know what horse lovers in this position would do. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

While going through this page I realized I haven't even heard all the professionally produced MLP music. Have you?
And that's not even touching on the fandom, which has produced a steady stream of about 200 songs per month for much of its life (that youtube page being a sliver of just 2016 & 2017).
The fandom had produced over a million pieces of art and about 2 billion words of fanfiction last time I checked (and that was a long time ago).
And there is no proper way to truly count the number of animations and videos, or comics. Or cross-media alternate character interpretations and fan-made characters and sub-fandoms (the largest being Fallout: Equestria), or memorable fandom events.
Other things that have been countless for every year of this decade . . .
Hundreds, probably thousands of jokes just from the show alone. Pop culture references. Pinkie Pie randomity. Funny lines. Slapstick. And more.
Countless pieces of lore. Changelings. Cutie marks. Winter Wrap-up. Hearth's Warming Eve. Pony tribes. Kingdoms of griffons and other creatures.
Then there's the characters.
Hundreds of characters. The mane 6, the princesses, Spike and Starlight, Zecora, Trixie, mane 6 family members, one-shots, main background characters, background background characters that nonetheless also have fanfics and music about them. So on and so forth.
And lastly, the least quantifiable metric of all.
The feelings.
The flavors.
The momentary ones that tug on the heart, the omnipresent ones that feel like getting into a warm shower whenever you see that animation and hear the music.
All of these things are with us, and will go on indefinitely. The completed story of this series will be preserved online, the stories born of it forever growing, and the feelings it brought will last so long as we can feel them.
And none of these numbers are set.
Many of us have learned something from this show. Learned to re-think "girl's shows", re-think expectations of what a cartoon could be.
But I think the people behind this 40 year old franchise have learned something to.
And for better or worse, two years from now every last quantifiable number I've given here will have a two word caveat.
"And counting."
