There's a proverb that "a picture is worth a thousand words."

That got me curious. I looked both at derpibooru's and fimfiction's stats.

Derpibooru has 2,159,501 pictures as of this writing.

Fimfiction has 2,027,083,565 words-worth of stories.

Number of pictures multiplied by a thousand is very close to the number of words.

Nice coincidence.

This is the thread for discussing anything pertaining to Fanfiction in general. Like your ideas, thoughts, what you're reading, etc. This differs from my Fanfic Recommendation Link-Swap Thread, as that focuses primarily on recommendations. Every week these two threads will be posted at alternate times.

Although, if you like, you can talk about fics you don't necessarily recommend but found entertaining.

IMPORTANT NOTE. Thanks to /u/BookHorseBot (many thanks to their creator, /u/BitzLeon), you can now use the aforementioned bot to easily post the name, description, views, rating, tags, and a bunch of other information about a fic hosted on Fimfiction.net. All you need to do is include "{NAME OF STORY}" in your comment (without quotes), and the bot will look up the story and respond to your comment with the info. It makes sharing stories really convenient. You can even lookup multiple stories at once.

One-Time Characters You Wanted to see Return

So this is a bit of an odd one but throughout the 9 seasons of wonderful wonderful show we have met a great many characters within. Some of them became recurring characters, background or side, but for the vast majority of them they have been pushed to the side to never be seen or spoken of again.

In my case there are two characters I always hoped would return in one fashion or another. The first would be Applejack's fillyhood friend turned Super-Star Colourotra/Rara . It would have been really neat to have a episode that focused on her either creating/reforging a new reputation for herself after the whole confrontation with her previous manager, or her seeking Applejack to take comfort and have some relaxation with her closest and dearest friend.

My other choice would be the character of Burnt Oak. For those who do not remember this Earth Pony, this Middle Aged Stallion was the foalhood friend of Bright Mac and indeed helped the two of them get together just as Mrs. Cake and Mayor Mare did. The last time we ever see him Big Mac had asked him if he would ever be willing to share stories of his parents with him . . and Burnt Oak happily agreed much to Mac's delight.

And I know that we got more Bright Mac and Pear Butter this season but gotsdangit it would have been so cool to either see or hear about Big Mac or the girls learning more about their parents from a 1st hand source. Especially a pony who looked like Sam Elliot with an awesome name!

Those are just my picks of course. . .But what about the rest of y'all? What one-time characters did you hope would ever get another chance in the limelight or get expanded upon in a future episode that is no longer coming? Why did/do you want to see these ponies again?
