I am moving back into an area and I'm not sure of a lot of boarding options because it's a less horse-populated area.
I was at a barn in that area for almost a decade, and while we left on good terms, it was a bad situation with the barn owner and I'm hoping to avoid going back there. She constantly accused us of owing her money though she could not substantiate those claims and we have proof that we were up to date. From my end, there were also issues towards the end of horse neglect. Needless to say, I will not be returning there.
The issue is, the best way I can think of to find some places is to post on a few local Facebook groups. The issue is, she's part of those groups too. She'd blow a gasket if she saw that I wasn't coming back to her place, but the bigger issue is I'm concerned she'd tell boarding places that we were behind on paying. Which we could easily prove wrong, and I have his current barn owner as a reference, but I'd just prefer not to start off with drama.
I could block her, but that could stir up some drama too...is there anything else I could do to make her not see the post? Or maybe other ideas for finding out info on places to board? We don't have a strong 4H or FFA community so that won't help too much.
I've been out of horses for a couple of years, but want to get back into things soon. I was told my truck didn't have the power it should for my trailer... but I've never had a problem with my combo.
I have a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi 4X2 and a CM Dakota 3 horse bumper pull, no dressing room. Is this still a safe combo? Eventually I want to get a 2500, however if I could hold off for another year that would be nice!
