Equine Facilitated Mental Health Certifications
I also posted this in r/socialwork but I'm hoping that some folks here will have some experience in this area. I am an LICSW in Washington, DC and considering becoming certified in equine facilitated mental health. The problem is that there are a number of programs offering certification. I've been told that EAGALA is the best but it is also the most expensive - over $6k to become certified plus annual trainings. Given that this won't be a core part of my practice, that isn't worth it.
Many of these certifications also require 2 workers - one mental health professional, and one equine specialist. I am no trainer or professional rider but I have reviewed the qualifications to be an equine specialist and I'm confident that I meet the criteria outlined.
I greatly appreciate any feedback on these certifications.
