#horses - #Simple question from a city boy

Simple question from a city boy

Hello, the other day I was arguing with a coworker, he insisted that horses didnt last past 2 years if they were used to run carriages... he even insisted that their lifespan was reduced to 2 years (altogether), and I know a 2 year old horse is still a baby. (edit: I argued that he was just talking nonsense, but later on I suspected that the heavy work from carrying a carriage maybe puts them at risk... as in perhaps, they can last 2-3 years under horrible conditions?)

I would like to ask you guys how much running a carriage would have an impact on a horse? Is it true that it reduces their lifespans? Edit: I have no experience with horses, and I know next to zero about them. So I would appreciate an honest answer
