Fictional Scenario: Disney buys the rights to "MLP" and uses the characters in ABC's "Once Upon A Time" (Do-over)
(I posted this same scenario a few months ago, but I didn't label it as a hypothetical scenario, so people thought that it was real. This is a do-over)
A couple months after the MLP movie (which is a huge success), Disney buys the franchise.
They proceed to do absolutely nothing with it. They don't interfere with the show, the comics, the movies or the toys in any way. The only thing that changes is the show is advertised better.
The show remains on Discovery Family.
Fans are relieved at first. It seems like Disney knows what it's doing and is leaving well enough alone.
Then, the season 7 finale of ABC's Once Upon A Time ends with a shot of a familiar location: Canterlot! A little, familiar, purple CGI pony flies off into the distance.
The producers reveal that the first half of season 8 will feature characters from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic: A horrifying enemy by the name of Grogar has escaped Tartarus, and the ponies need help from the Storybrooke crew to defeat him before he destroys all of Equestria and the worlds beyond!
As the summer drags on, there are casting calls for actresses in their early twenties (preferably one who can adequately imitate Tara Strong's voice) to play Twilight Sparkle's human form (her true CGI pony form will only be seen very briefly due to the budget, the same as everypony else), as well as young boys in their early teens to play Spike's human form.
The fandom watches with horror and trepidation as the rest of the Mane Six, Starlight Glimmer, Celestia, Luna, Trixie, the CMC, Star Swirl the Bearded and Grogar, all of whom take human form when they leave Equestria (again, gotta watch the budget) are cast, mostly in guest roles.
There is briefly some excited chatter, however, when John de Lancie is cast as Discord's human form.
Eventually, the first episode airs.
How much of a train wreck is it? How can the writers add soapy goodness to the world of MLP? How does the "Equestria" storyline play out?
