The Shadowbolts from The Friendship Games are pretty unusual (Spoilers)
Generally in cartoons and movies featuring schools competing against each other, the rival school almost always resort to cheating and rigging to win. Friendship Games averts that trope. The Shadowbolts, while being poor sports, actually won their challenges legitimately through skill. The only time they come close to cheating is when they want Twilight to release the magic to help them in the final competition and even then it was less "cheating" and more "leveling the playing field" since they felt Canterlot High's magic gave them an unfair advantage
