Anyone else have a hard time managing the heat?
I've owned horses for most of my life and when I was younger, the temperature didn't bother me at all. The ranch we boarded at usually had an ocean breeze (i'm located on the west coast), so even on the hottest days, things were usually bearable and I could ride no problem.
But recently my family moved more inland where the summers are much hotter and I'm really struggling with it :( It's been 105+ every day and it starts early, sometimes in the 80s or 90s by 8 am, and doesn't usually cool off until long after the sun sets. It's a super dry heat so maybe I shouldn't be complaining! But that sun is strong and I seem to be super susceptible to overheating!
How do you deal with the heat? Is there such a thing as taking summers off and just doing turnouts/groundwork? I feel bad that I haven't been working my mare as much as I should. And for those who live in super humid areas, I'm even more curious!!
