Every. Single. Time.
So, the farrier comes to check on a horse that came into the unit lame and that we treated for an abcess. He reckons we can put shoes on now and gets busy.
I decided to do a quick walk around and look at the others in case there's anything else he can do to make the drive out more worth his while. Stare hard at the horses who seem to lose shoes like it's their job and they stare back innocently and chew grass.
Find a couple of horses and a donkey that can use a trim, they get done, everyone's happy.
Walk back past the mare paddock not even 2 hours later and see a shiny, freshly lost shoe lying right by the gate like a little gift just for me. I swear I see a smirk on the horse's lips. Sigh...
