7 year old niece: "The're killing off princess Celestia and Luna!!!" (short story)
Wait what!? Who told you that? (I was fearing the worst, that perhaps she found one of those weird Chinese videos on youtube.) "There was a video about the new episodes on the computer." ........ So apparently after much back and forth and some talking with brother, I was able to figure out what happened.
One of her old teachers was retiring and she was confused why everyone was sad and why her teacher was "going away".
This lead to them explaining how the teacher is not going "away" forever and is actually ok, just that she isn't going to be working there anymore since she had been there for so long. Ok so what does this have to do with "killing off" Apparently sometime later, bro and his wife were talking about Games of Thrones and about characters getting "killed off". At which my little niece askes:
So to help explain, brother used analogy that when a show retires characters the people who play the character aren't hurt, that just like her old teacher, they are just not going to be on the show anymore. So niece put the two together and figured, since MLP is a show and that Celestia and Luna are retiring, that the correct term is "killing off".
