#horses - #my instructor is pressuring me too much

my instructor is pressuring me too much

hey!! this is going to be a kind of rant post bc i really need somewhere to let this out.

so recently i started riding a new horse called Karate. he was abused so i've been spending a lot of bonding time with him on the ground and it's going great! within three days he now lets me cuddle him & pick out his hooves and tack him up without getting nervous! he spooks a lot which is definitely more challenging than my previous horse but he's a lot of fun to ride and he's super comfortable. today was my first lesson with him in the outdoor ring & it went decently, except that at once point our instructor wanted us to canter over some ground polls and i didn't feel ready yet. she pulled me to the side and told me that [this much more advanced rider than me] has done it and that i should be able to do it too, and that if i was too scared then i could go back to my old horse. the thing is i had a really bad fall which resulted in breaking my arm & needed surgery a couple months ago & i'm really trying to get comfortable with this horse and go slow with him. my instructor even encouraged me to go at my own pace with him but suddenly i'm 'not compatible with him' & 'making him regress in his training' just because i didn't want to canter ground poles on our first class outside with 10+ horses after riding him for 3 days. i'm so frustrated because i already love this horse so much and he's such a sweetheart and i'm genuinely confused on why my instructor would tell me to go at my own pace and then get angry when i do. she told me herself i've been riding him pretty well too and she knows about my fall and everything and just aaa

thank you if you read up to here, i really needed to let off some steam :•)
