#horses - #Foaling Pony - Need Advice!

Foaling Pony - Need Advice!

I hope I'm not breaking any rules asking on here as it's kinda medical, but we're desperate and the vet has been useless so far!

I'm posting on behalf of my friend as her wifi is kinda shitty, but she's working as a barn director at a summer camp caring for the ponies. One of the ponies they got given at the beginning of the camp season looked pregnant, so they called the vet out (bear in mind they have a limited budget on the camp so call outs need to be important to warrant the vet call out). The vet diagnosed the pony with sand colic and wasn't pregnant, only a couple of days ago she's started producing a white liquid from her nipples https://imgur.com/1xRuh17

My friend is now worried she is getting ready to give birth, but has no experience with foaling, and neither does anyone else at the camp. The only vet on the island is a large livestock vet and also has no experience with foaling. The mare has a stall for night time and a small grass paddock during the day, and has been getting pretty defensive and doesn't want to be touched. My friend is sleeping in the barn at night to be close, but we don't really know any time frames for what could happen. Obviously she doesn't want to interfere and let nature take its course, but no one has any idea of what to do if things go wrong, signs to call the vet out etc...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
