Horse may be sick, Please help/suggestions?
Starting on about Saturday night, my horse stopped eating his hay and has been laying down almost constantly. He will nibble at grass once in awhile, but not very much. He is normally a voracious eater and has been for the 16 years that I've had him. The vet came out and said because he was still willing to eat a little bit it couldn't be colic, and that it should be fine in a few days. Well last night we went out there to feed him dinner and he was shivering so we blanketed him. The weather has been pretty mild, and he is used to being in much colder temperatures. He wasn't shivering this morning, but he still doesn't really want to move or do anything. We searched him for cuts, ticks, and bites, and we have found nothing. He doesn't appear to be in pain when he gets up he stands normally when he is standing. I'm going to have the vet come back out, but because she was not very helpful last time I am worried she will do nothing again. (Don't get me wrong she is normally really wonderful.) But have any of you experienced this before. Do you have any advice on what to look for, or a direction to try and point the vet in? Because I am incredibly worried and I really don't know what to do at this point. Panic is definitely starting to set in. Thank you in advance fo any thoughts you may have.
