Sick horse and odd manure. Any thoughts?
My 15-year old paint mare was acting very listless this morning and not eating. She didn't seem colicky, just stood with her nose to the ground, not caring about her food. This is very unusual for her, as she's never one to not eat. She was tender in her abdomen. I walked her around for a bit and her movement was fine. This afternoon she passed this manure (link below) and then seemed back to her normal self. Any thoughts on what could have caused this? There have been no changes in her diet or activity level. My only thought is that with it being winter and dealing with frozen water buckets, maybe she got dehydrated? Any thoughts on what the cause may be and if I need to have the vet come out at this point are much appreciated!
