I'm writing a sci-fi novel. Can horses be trained (independent of a rider) to attack, like dogs?

The title pretty much says it. It's a post sci-fi apoc thing. I'm just curious. I need source materials to say "Just like the ancient so-in-so's". I would appreciate any guidance. Understand pita folks, this is fiction.
