Trying to get my old show horse out of a bad situation....the kicker is, he's not for sale...anyone ever been in this situation?
I recently caught wind of a sale video of my old show horse (a horse who, long story short, I basically owe my career to). He was listed MUCH cheaper than we had originally sold him for, and the ad said he now "requires maintenance" but still advertised him as a show horse.
I finally got ahold of the seller, only to find she had sold him about a month ago. She informed me that he was diagnosed with navicular and she sold him to a young couple who plan to use him in their lesson program and to lease out to kids who want to show.
Side rant What part of "this horse has NAVICULAR" says: Lets teach beginners who are still learning to balance how to ride and show??? Or what part of NAVICULAR even says RIDING HORSE....not sure how 2 parties missed that minor detail...but anyways...
At this point I'm devastated and feel compelled to do everything in my power to get him out of that situation. I don't want to offend them when I contact them with an offer. I don't know what they paid for him but with enough prying I may be able to find out. Curious to hear what would entice any of you to sell a horse that wasn't actually for sale other than making an enormous offer??
