Weekly Wrap Up: This Text Post Rated W For Weekly Edition (6/29/2017)

Hey, everybody, welcome to Weekly Wrap Up where we recap the week in Pony, I'm your host /u/FlaminScribblenaut, thank you so much for being here!

Well, here we are. The first trailer for My Little Pony's ultimate venture to the big screen is finally here and it is promising.

Truly, this is a tremendous time for the My Little Pony fandom, but as unfortunately has always been the case, some people aren't as down with people liking things as we are, as minutes after the trailer was posted to this subreddit and we were all getting in our happy, excited reactions, that post was hit hard with some sort of downvote script, sending pretty much every comment into the -20's and temporarily harshing the buzz. We're still not quite sure who did it or how or why (though the "why" is pretty obvious), but what was great to see was after the brigade and all the comments were downvoted to hell, everybody in the thread coming together and upvoting eachother like mad, encouraging others to do the same, and eventually bringing all the comments in that thread back to where they should have been. It may have been a small, harmless event in the grand scheme of things, but it truly was heartwarming to watch this community come together and set things right after an act of trolling and hate by some loser and not letting it ruin our fun. It's little moments like that that remind me why I love this community so much. Y'all rock.

Anyway, news time. Because there was basically no show news to speak of this week, and the Movie's pretty much dominated everything, we're going to skip the Season 7 and Show section this week and Movie news will be up first. Cool? Cool.

2017 Movie

• The first official trailer for the My Little Pony Movie has been released!

• The first Movie Prequel comic was released.

• The Movie will have a 99-minute runtime.

• Emily Blunt, voice of Tempest Shadow, spoke briefly about the Movie on Entertainment Tonight.

• There is an official website where you can create GIFs out of the trailer.

• Alongside the trailer, a very colorful new poster for the Movie was also revealed.

• A new Movie character not seen in the trailer, Stratus Skyranger, has been given a description and new images of his upcoming figure.

• Another MLP Golden Book has been revealed, this one called "Seaponies Make A Splash" and, as the title would suggest, is mainly based around the Movie and the seaponies in particular.

Equestria Girls

• The first of this Summer's three Equestria Girls specials, "Dance Magic", officially aired in the US.

• Preview for Legends Of Magic Issue #4 has been released.

• Various issues of Friends Forever will be translated and released in Poland this coming September.

Merch and Other Media

• New official MLP mobile game "Rainbow Runners" appears on iTunes.

Events and Cons

• Equestria Daily announced new character day, Lyra and Bon Bon day, for July 10^th.

• Andrew Francis and Britt McKillip, voices of Shining Armor and Cadence, have been announced for Ponyville Ciderfest 2017.

• EQLA announces Equestria Girl crew member Katrina Hadley and charity drive for comic artist Jenn Blake's battle against cancer.

Other

• Amazon included a Rainbow Dash-themed float in the recent New York Gay Pride Parade.

• The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon had a short skit revolving around Hasbro's plan to market MLP to boys.

Fanworks and Fandom

• And finally, Ponies At Dawn have released their new compilation album Guardians, featuring a variety of fandom music from artists such as Aurelleah, 4everfreebrony, Jyc Row, WoodLore, Radiarc, Frozen Night, The Wasteland Wailers, Elias Frost, ReverbBrony, and more. Check it out!
