#mylittlepony - #The Pony Playlist Project: Fluttershy (Pony Music)

The Pony Playlist Project: Fluttershy (Pony Music)

Hello, everypony, and welcome to one half of Week 4 of The Pony Playlist Project!

What is this project you speak of, you may ask?

The Pony Playlist Project is an open community event in which we, /r/mylittlepony, curate a series of musical playlists based on the characters of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic! Rules are simple: in these threads, simply comment with any and all songs, artists, and genres you associate with the given character, as much music as you want with as much explanation as you want, and after we finish each batch of ponies, the current one being the Mane 6, I will collect it all and assemble it into a massive playlist for each pony!

See the proposal thread if you want a more detailed and clear explanation on how all this works.

^And ^this ^week ^it's ^the ^sweet, ^quiet, ^{animal-loving} ^Element ^Of ^Kindness ^herself, ^Fluttershy! ^Yay!

This is the thread for Pony Music. This thread is for music from the show and from the fandom, or in any way directly related to MLP itself. The thread for non-Pony music, AKA everything else, is over here.

So, what are your favorite songs from the show and/or the fandom about Flutters? The ones that embody her the best, the ones that highlight the best parts of her character, just your favorite songs that happen to be about, from, or based on her, anything!

Also, something I feel is worth pointing out: you can submit as much or little music with as much or little additional explanation as you want. Obviously long lists with paragraphs of explanation are more than OK, but if you just want to list off one or a few songs and have that be it, that's OK too, or anything in between. Don't think "not having enough" should discourage you from participating; any amount of participation is greatly encouraged.

Quick thing, if you'd like to go back and contribute to previous threads you missed, you absolutely can and are encouraged to! This project needs as much music and participation as possible!

Here are the past threads in the series so far:

Twilight Sparkle - Pony, Non-Pony

Rainbow Dash - Pony, Non-Pony

Pinkie Pie - Pony, Non-Pony

Next week's thread is Applejack. Um... y'all. See you then.

My Little Pony on Reddit - Who's the best? The Meta Discussion!

Hi there! It's Thursday again and that means another chance to talk about what's been happening around here and how you feel about it!

Same as every other time, feel free to discuss whatever it is you'd like regarding our little subreddit good or bad. If you're unhappy we'll try our best to fix whatever problem you're having!

If you want to talk about the MLP fandom in general, that's fine too!

But some people may not want to talk about comics or anything else that hasn't happened yet, so you should be nice and hide those conversations from those people by using the spoiler tag.

If you don't know how it's as easy as making an emote:

[It has ponies!](/spoiler)

Becomes: It has ponies!

And if you're not wanting to discuss the subreddit or community specifically you can also check out the weekly off-topic thread here!!!!!

Have a great day, everyone!!!

#mylittlepony - #The Pillars of Equestria - in seasons 5&6!

The Pillars of Equestria - in seasons 5&6!

So I was re-watching the start of Season 6 the other day, and I caught something surprising. In s6e02, when Starlight and Sunburst are trying (and failing) to reconnect, Starlight makes an off-hand comment that "It's not like there's a spell that could magically compell us to pick up where we left off." Sunburst replies that there's several, and lists three spells: Mistmane's Material Amity, Rockhoof's Rapport, and Flash Prance's Fellowship. That's two of the Pillars, who won't be mentioned again until the next season! "Flash Prance" is probably a scrapped name for Flash Magnus, which would make three. Later that same episode, Sunburst lists two more spells to combine with the Crystalling and restore the Crystal Heart: Somnambula's Weather Abjuration and Fledgeling's Forbearance. Somnambula makes four! I suspect that "Fledgeling" isn't the name of that spell's creator, but rather a reference to the spell's target - a baby. This got me to wondering. With those four name drops, only one is missing - Meadowbrook! I checked out the MLP Wiki to see if I'd missed something. Lo and behold, she was mentioned even earlier! In s5e01, Starlight shows off her "Staff of Sameness" and claims that it's one of Meadowbrook's Nine Enchanted Items. Later, Twilight suggests that Meadowbrook was an "eastern unicorn" but that there were only eight Enchanted Items. That makes five! Add in Starswirl, who has been known since s2e04, and all six of the Pillars were mentioned long before their actual depiction in season 7. I love finding things like this - tiny, insignificant things that become very significant later. I wonder if writers were just fishing round for impressive names at the time, or if they had some actual plans for the Pillars as early as season 5. Were there other foreshadowings of major plots? Have there been name drops in season 7 that will be relevant in future seasons?

What do you think the overarching theme of each season is?

I don't mean a main overarching plot-line like in season 4 with the keys, I mean thematically. Like the narrative theme that multiple episodes within a season touch upon and share with each other, and could be connected in hindsight once the season ended! For each season, do you think there is a consistent theme the writers wanted to focus on? Is it obvious or hidden? What would it be and why?

Brony@Home vs Team AnandTech: Update 1

We are in a good position thanks to you guys, but are starting to fall behind again. AnandTech is stepping up to the challenge and adding a lot of hardware to their team, and it is starting to show. We need you if we want an assured win. Just yesterday AnandTech got 54,386,935 points for the day, Brony@Home got 52,161,929. The difference is only two high end videocards.

To help us crush AnandTech, just download and install the folding@home software http://folding.stanford.edu/start-folding/ and make sure to put in team #212997 so the points count towards the Brony@Home team.

For the new ponies: This is a Folding@home competition between the two teams. Folding@Home is software you install on your computer to donate spare computing power for cancer (and influenza and many others) research. In addition to the competition, Brony@Home is offering prizes to any who say they want to sign up for prizes. Please read http://www.bronyathome.org/forums/showthread.php?tid=611 for more information about the competition and how to win awesome stuff like plushies or a videocard.

#mylittlepony - #Wouldn't it be cool to have a visual MLP fandom timeline/archive?

Wouldn't it be cool to have a visual MLP fandom timeline/archive?

I'm not sure if this would happen, but I've recently been thinking about how it would be great to see a easy-to-navigate timeline of all the best fan-made works along with when each episode of MLP came out. So that anyone who wanted to get into the headspace of why a certain artwork was made, or what inspired it or go back to old archived works that may be hard to find. Or even see the really old stuff that you may have never seen.

It could have the best artworks, animations, comics, fanfics, etc. And maybe have some extra description on what this piece of work influenced in other artists.

This would be really useful, I feel, for newcomers who missed out on the old stuff and want to feel like they're following along with the show AND the fandom. And it'd be awesome for old fans to, to go feel nostalgic and remember what it was like all those years ago...

Anyway, yeah, just a cool idea I had.
