#horses - #Survey results!

Survey results!

Hello everyone! You may have remembered a post from a few days ago with a survey about being dragged. Thank you to everyone who responded! I wanted to share a few of the results I received with everyone.

-over 86% wore boots with a heel. 60% wore boots with a heel that was equal to or less than an inch.

-60% had their foot caught within the actual stirrup iron. 26% had their foot go through the stirrup iron to have it catch on their ankle. 13% had their foot caught in their stirrup leather

-Of the people who had their foot go through the stirrup iron and catch their ankle: 25% were wearing shoes with a heel greater than an inch, 50% were wearing shoes with a heel less than or equal to an inch, and 25% were wearing shoes with no heel.

-46% were riding in traditional English stirrups, 33% in safety stirrups with breakaway sides, and 20% in western stirrups.

-80% of respondents put their skill level as intermediate, advanced or professional, with 40% stating that they were advanced at the time of the incident.

This is the data I have from 15 respondents. I've also included an updated survey at the bottom that's open to everyone, including previous respondents! There is a section for people who have been dragged or almost dragged that can be skipped if it doesn't apply to you. The more people who respond, the more accurate the info will be!
