Just learned that a local member of the horse community is thinking about building an indoor arena and an 8 stables barn on her land, 20mins from where I live... I've been out of the horse ownership game for 15 years, if this lady builds her yard, that drought may finally end! I'm already calculating costs! I'm so excited!

The facilities in my teeny tiny home town SUCK, so I've been putting it off. But a newly built yard, SIGN ME THE FUCK UP!

I'm SO EXCITED! But can't say it out loud because I don't want to jinx it!

HELP Pestering For Treats & Bad Behaviour

So basically one of my family members drives past my yard every morning and night (on their way to and from work) and they always stop and have a little look to make sure everything is okay (which I greatly appreciate) but they have been giving my pony treats every day, twice a day which paired with me going and giving her proper food means she is being given food every single time someone comes in to the yard. I have asked my relative to stop giving her treats as it's making her behaviour bad but they will not listen. She now follows you around the field, headbutts your back/shoulders/arms, tries to snatch food from your hands, whinnies and stomps her feet if you aren't giving her food. It's getting to be really annoying and quite dangerous (she headbutted me into the stable door and almost knocked my dad out last week). Does anyone have any tips on how to stop her behaving like this? She was never like this before he started giving her all the treats.

TLDR: relative gives my pony treats every day and her behaviour is deteriorating because she always expects food now. How can I fix this?

I've been looking to buy my own horse for a long time. I finally found a horse that really caught my eye. She's a rescue TB mare, 16HH with a beautiful dark brown coat. She's $400 and my mum agreed that we could go and meet her to check she's sound. I've always adored horses and I was so close to being able to love my own today but my Dad said no despite me saying I would contribute my own money towards her. He said we couldn't afford future vet bills, food, agistment etc plus the horse could end up going lame, something could go wrong. I respect his decision in the end, but I'm not happy about it and I feel crushed.
