I got this image from here a while back and was using it as a background on my phone. I tried a new image as the background and don't like it as much, but was nursing my baby at the time and she kicked my phone and I/we accedently deleted it.
My wife took riding lessons and owned a horse as a young girl into her teens. I have farm experience but zero experience with livestock/horses. We just purchased an 18 acres farm with 10 acres of pasture with a 30'x50x barn. The barn is currently not set up for animals but i would like to convert it. Where should i start reading before purchasing a horse. Thanks for reading. It will not be until after extensive research will I be making the purchase so please don't think i will be putting the cart ahead of the horse so they say. All advice welcome. Thank you.

The Plounge, or more formally the MLP Lounge is /r/mylittlepony's sister subreddit. Designed to be a place where you can free of the tyranny of rules 3 and 4. The current IDW comic arc is making references to a threat from Equestria's past that is so horrifying that simply knowing about it is dangerous.
Considering that there's only one chapter of the arc left (and the two following storylines are slice-of-life), people are suggesting that this might be a "prologue" to whatever villain/threat will be the focus of the season 7 finale.
Assuming that this is leading to the villain/threat of the season 7 finale: What could this threat be?

I just finished reading a non-fiction called "A horse never lies about love" by Jana Harris and it was wonderful.
A pretty easy read in terms of language and its hard to put down. It took me 2 days to read all 276 pages and highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a good page turner. She writes about the trials and tribulations of a horse breeder but she also adds comedic relief so you arent crying the whole time.

Inspired by this thread and comic. I thought it was hilarious and we should make it a No Pics Thursday game.
The rules are simple. You just bring up the emotes menu and click at two random emotes.
In case, you're one of those sad, underprivileged individuals, who don't have bpm, just point at random emotes in the sidebar, check, then typey-type the comment.
From then on, your newfangled ship acts as a prompt. You either write an emote story, some mini fanfic in a comment, or a detailed dissertation of how the relationship would work. Or if you don't know what to do with it, then pass it onto someone else to write. If you want to ignore their expressions or not, or you want to be funny or serious, is up to you.
You can also add to someone else's story/fanfic/dissertation if you feel like.
Hey y'all!
I've been casually hunting for a new OTTB prospect and I've been hit with a lot of frustration when it comes to looking online.
Why does nobody post photos of the horse's legs dead on!? I want a hunter/jumper prospect for some mid-level competing and I refuse to buy a horse (or make the 4+ hour trip to see one) without making sure they're not pigeon toed, knock kneed, etc.
On top of that, when I'm surfing a site like New Vocations and I go to check the horse's race stats on Equibase, the info doesn't match up which stresses me out and leaves me with doubts. What can I do to make sure I'm not going to end up with a horse that can't perform the way I'd need it to?
How do you guys vet your horses whether you're buying straight off the track or from a rescue? Any specific PPE recommendations? I'm not looking to spend much more than $800-$1,200 so I'm not willing to fork over another few hundred for an in-depth PPE. I'm aware that this horse will be a huge project which is the exact reason I want an OTTB.
My SO wants to go to Sugarcreek (I'm in NW Ohio) but to be honest, I know if I go I'll end up heart broken and will probably fall apart at the auction. Do any of you guys know how to get in touch with an owner or trainer that plans to send their horses to auction before they're actually taken?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice given. I'm just really at a loss and don't want to make the wrong decision or go about this incorrectly.

Back to the matter at hand, this week we're going to be celebrating the Supporting Cast of the show! Don't worry, the mane 6 will get some attention next week but for now it's all about friends and side characters! I'll let you guys argue about what qualifies as Supporting Cast (Yes, I'm sure Chrysalis counts SC2.)

I work at a boarding barn and the owners don't ride much anymore so they allow me and my friends to ride their horses whenever we want. The one I'm always on is a very sweet gelding that I love, but I and others consistently have a harder time getting him to pick up his right lead. He's usually very responsive to cues and he will do it if you really ask but I'm wondering if there's some kind of pain or discomfort he's feeling, because he really doesn't put up much resistance to most things (unless there's a cow involved). Where might that be happening? And how could I check for it? I've felt no heat or anything out of place anywhere on his front right leg. Could it be somewhere else? Does he just need more training?
My friends and I also ride English, where he was trained Western. Are the cues very different? Maybe he's just confused?
And yes it has been mentioned to the owners but as they're not very involved anymore it doesn't seem high on their priority list to have a vet out until something is really wrong.

I, GM, have finally decided to stop the intense lurking I do of this subreddit! You may have seen me posting some comments in the last week, or hanging around the discord chat (well, if you were there the one time I was this week). In my time lurking over this reddit, I have noticed many 'hi, I'm new to this subreddit' posts and I thought to myself, 'self, we should make one of those' to which my self responded 'good idea!' And here we are!
So, the big question, WHO AM I? Uh... I'm a dude who likes colorful cartoon horses, that should be obvious. I've been a part of the fandom since before the end of season 5, and have been lurking here for most of that. (Allwayyyys waaaatching). I was dragged into the fandom kicking and screaming because I DID NOT want to like ponies, but they refused to let me Ignore them.
oh woe is me and my younger self's perceived threat to his manliness... I learned that I had no manliness later, but bah, the threat still FELT real back then! ...Maybe. Anyway, Hi, Pinkie Pie is best pony, I like talking and the more time I have the more I'll talk, I have a Fimfiction, I've been using BPM in my messages to my friends for a long time, and I have a question.
