Top left foot moves with bottom left foot, then top right foot moves with bottom right foot. Is there a name for such a thing?
Hey horse people! I have recently relocated my horse to northern Florida (Pensacola area) and with Irma looking like it might head this way, I wanted to get some opinions on how to handle if the storm does hit us.
My horse is roughly 10 miles from the gulf on a great well maintained property. He has an indoor/outdoor stall and the property is surrounded by large pines though none close enough to hit the barn if they did fall. How concerned should I be if the hurricane does hit us and I can't get him trailered out? Our trailer situation is currently is up in the air and we are not sure if we are going to be able to resolve it before the storm hits. How concerned should I be? Is there anything I could do to prepare him?
Any thoughts on the issue is greatly appreciated.
After being burned before a friend of mine is now preparing to get a vet check done on a horse she's looking to buy. Out of curiosity, what do you all insist is done for a pre purchase exam? Do you think x rays and ultrasounds are worth it? Are there some "tests" that she should insist on getting done (i.e. the "flex" test for the legs)? The horse she is looking at is 4 and offered for $2000. Should she splurge on a more expensive vet check for a cheaper horse?
My daughter is 13 she absolutely loves horses(as do I). However I don't have the money to send her for lessons. But she would like to do this her entire life. Like talking vet school etc. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Just curious what everyone is planning on doing with their horses for hurricane Irma. I manage a 21 horse ranch, we're in a hurricane proof barn but flooding is a real possibility in our area. The owner and I weathered out Matthew but it didn't hit us directly. This time we're debating evacuation. Any Georgia/Alabama/Mississippi area barns taking evacuees ? Or anyone have any good resources for finding horse evacuation locations?
So horses can make some pretty insanely funny faces; anybody have a favorite picture of a horse making a funny face?

I'm going to my first ever horse riding lesson this weekend, I have never ridden a horse before but I have always wanted to learn (I am 23f). I am a little bit hesitant around horses but I'm hoping that will go away once I begin to learn more.
Is there any advice you would give to a first time rider for their first lesson/lessons? Thank you :)
