For thoroughbreds in particular, is it common that they're teeth will wear down as they get older and are then no longer able to tear up grass?
For those of you who don't know, before Hasbro teamed up with Lionsgate to make last year's MLP film (Which I enjoyed even though I felt like the script could've been better), they were originally gonna work on it with Sony Pictures. However according to leaked emails from the 2014 Sony Hacks, there were major creative differences between the 2 companies and Sony wanted to make the film a live action/animated hybrid where the Mane Six come to the real world Smurfs style.
I'm glad this never happened. I don't hate Sony like a lot of other people do. Yes they've made recent crap like The Emoji Movie, Flatliners, and Annie, but they've also given us some really good and entertaining films in recent years like Baby Driver, Venom, Into The Spider-Verse, 22 Jump Street, and Jumanji. But this MLP movie pitch sounded disastrous. Most of these live action/CGI films based on children's shows/books suck. Yeah Paddington was great, but you also have awful films like Garfield and Chipmunks. Had this happened, I imagine it would've been a disaster.

So, it's time for this weeks Underrated. Today, The Overthrown Queen Chrysalis.
Now, if I'm honest, I think that she is pretty well received, but I don't believe neither the show Nor the fans have let her live up to her full potential.
She's not extremely underrated, I just think that more can happen! She was only the main villain for 3 episodes! (5 if you count two parters as two episodes)
Also, it seems like her goals are becoming more-Evil. I mean she is one of the most evil villains, but she just got pettier. Think About It
First Goal: Feed Subjects with pony love so they can live! (It had good intentions, but evil execution)
Second Goal: Revenge against the Mane Six And The Princesses. (The height of her evil, near flawless execution)
Third Goal: Create Clones to get the Elements Of Harmony. (I mean, evil intentions, the plan was just plain petty.)
Third goal required; A good disguise, an excites to get hair, pictures, using Changeling magic to do a spell that transformed trees into sentient beings, hoping those beings are worthy.
Third goal is okay, but it is nothing compared to The Second One! She could have done something different. She is the most powerful changeling with mind control magic!
My point is that Chrysalis is a decent villain, but the show could make her much more evil.
Tell me if Chrysalis could have more evil plans, or if her plans were all bad.

(I'm new to this subreddit, so I apologise if this has already been done.)
I recently purchased the My Little Pony "Meet the Mane 6" ponies collection from Argos for £25.99 and I thought that I might want to share my experience with it with others, seeing as it is considerably cheaper than a lot of pony merchandise- particularly of the mane six.
I'll start with the packaging. It comes in a rather large box and each pony is encased in a large chunk of plastic that wraps around them at parts and makes them hard to get out. They are also evidently quite cheaply-made figures, so one would want to refrain from using excessive force to remove them. Fortunately, the tails (as I have found) are re-attachable and can be positioned as pleased.
As for the actual figures, they are 3 inches in height (slightly shorter than the vinyl figures) and (like the vinyl figures) only have their cutie marks on one side. The ponies are also decorated with numerous manufacturing defaults, such as flakey plastic, visible build-ups of glue and some random black marks. Additionally, the back part of RD's mane is coloured incorrectly, AJ is missing her hat, Rarity has trouble standing up and Pinkie has an obtrusive black mark on her leg.
But hey, they're ponies, they're cheap and they're adorable, so a good buy regardless.

There are always things about the show I want to talk about, but I'd rather not always dedicate an entire full blown thread to it or it's never the right time to mention because no one would care. Maybe it's a thought that could be answered quickly enough to end discussion or something insignificant and stupid brewing in the back of your head for awhile! We have seen the land of Equestria be ruled by Princess Celestia for around 8 seasons now and though she has made a few mistakes here or there she has proven to be a rather apt ruler.
But what if she hadn't been the one ruling Equestria during the time of the show? What if she had been replaced? By Daybreaker? By Nightmare Moon? Hell by Sombra? How might things had changed if one of these other rulers had been ruling the realm? If they had been the ones adopting Princess Cadence and training Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle as their students? Would events still turn out the same?
How would things change when Nightmare Moon or Princess Celestia returned during the Summer Solstice as Twilight and her friends raced to find the Elements of Harmony to stop them?
And how do you imagine that other events might go throughout the series if there was a different ruler in charge? During the Grand Galloping Gala? The Canterlot Wedding? Twilight's Alicornification?

Nine years on, I'm becoming increasingly aware of an interesting difference between this fandom and so many others: The degree to which it has embraced fan-work as wholely acceptable alongside the show. Many fandoms have well-developed libraries of fan-fiction and small mountains of fan-work, of course - we're hardly unique like that. And many more have other expressions of fan love, such as meticulously-curated wikis (Wookiepedia and Memory Alpha, looking at you).
But this fandom did something relatively unique, in that it not just accepted fan-work as interesting but embraced it practically on a level rivaling that of the original show itself. We set up streaming and hosting websites for the show itself, a wiki, and of course have plenty of discussions regarding the actual official content.
But we also built a searchable, tag-able website just to hold all our fan-words, and within that built a whole network of groups for everything from new-writer training to variously-themed stories. Then we did the same thing for fan-art, and did it again when the first one fell down. When the explosion of tumblrpone was happening (RIP that magnificent platform), it was accepted as cool to make "accurate" versions of the show characters - just as it was to make any number of alternate-universes and reinterpretations.
I can't speak to why, exactly, this fandom embraced fanwork to such a great degree. I can speculate on a few causes:
The show itself contains relatively little media (compared to, say, a full season of 44-minute TV, a "cinematic universe", or novel series) and little/no extended storylines to debate and argue over. Fans turned to discussing each others' ideas instead.
The show deliberately induced a sense of childlike wonder and expectation that there was more to see beyond the boundaries, and fans reacted by starting to color in the blank pages the show implied, hinted at, or only briefly touched on.
The basic nature of FiM - a toy commercial being turned into a genuinely good storytelling platform - encouraged fans to believe they could produce good stories on a modest basis or origin as well.
But all of these speculate about why creators started creating, not why creators were embraced so thoroughly. That reasoning still eludes me.
Regardless of the reason why, however, I firmly believe that the embrace of fan work was a boon of unimaginable value to this fandom. Everyone knows comments and discussion are like food for content creators. Encouraging them to share their ideas - not just content consumers - is a major factor that widely sets us apart from so many others, and while I can't say FiM is my favorite fandom in every respect I wish others would embrace this idea as well.
Beyond the initial cost of a horse and having land for them to live on, what are the most common expenses of owning a horse and what does it add up to?
I've always loved horses and rode them frequently as a child and one of my life goals is to own land and a horse or two.
I'm talking food, enrichment, vet, trailer, tack. What do y'all pay on average for your horses' upkeep?
Good news everyone! The prototype thread went over so well that I decided to make this a weekly, or biweekly, thing so with that said.
So I've been inspired these past few weeks to try out something new. Just as we have a dedicated Fanfiction Thread, Recommendation thread, Miscellaneous Thread, and other such threads I figured that something was missing and decided to see how popular this idea is.
So we have seen a LOT of fanart tossed around on this thread over the past near decade and though some have been lost to the sands of times others seem to stick in our minds and memories.
So With that said are there any pieces of Fanart that you personally love and appreciate? Why is that?Is it how the colors of the piece meld together to make the image so beautiful? Feel free to link the fanart you are discussing about in your comments below so as to give the example of what you are talking about.
So I'm thinking of getting a horse in about a yrs time. Would it be ok to stable it at my house (garden is big enough), but turn it out a few times a week, or do they need the space every day? How much bedding do they need daily and how much hay should I store monthly? Wall of text but just want some beginner tips. We live in a forest that has many hacking trails. Do horses need to be turned out everyday if being ridden most of the week? Silly ques but want info before taking the plunge.
