Discussion: Has this season been more meta than usual?
I've just noticed that this season has had several episodes deal with issues faced by some of the cast and crew of Friendship is Magic, though more generally by any public figure.
-
Fame and Misfortune shows the down side to fame - you get opinionated fans breathing down your neck, and your intended message can easily be lost or misinterpreted.
-
Daring Done is somewhat about dealing with fans suddenly taking a disliking to your work.
-
Once Upon A Zeppelin is about balancing your public image and obligations with your private life and well-being.
Do you think this is just a coincidence - a lot of morals are applicable to a lot of people, after all - or do you think there's more to it? Are the writers trying say something to fans of the show? Or is it just that many of the main characters are growing increasingly, and these kinds of plots are naturally bound to follow?
Discuss.
