Apparently Equestria Daily recently polled whether people wanted to become a pony or not if they landed in Equestria

To be specific, whether they'd prefer to be a pony or a human. Which got me thinking, is there a "correct" answer to the question?

As I see it, there are benefits to either choice. On one hand, being a pony comes with benefits in pretty much all scenarios. You can assume to either get some basic magical capacity, the ability to fly (Or at least hover) or an increase in physical strength right off the bat, and with some practice you could improve on whatever trait you got. You'd also benefit from having everything in the pony society made to fit you; You would be one of them, after all.

On the other hand (Or hoof), being human comes with unique cababilities that no pony could mimic. To me, height and dexterity comes to mind. Since they are "my little ponies" we can probably assume ponies, or perhaps the whole world, is smaller than in our world. As a human, you'd probably be a minor giant. You'd also be one of the few (friendly) things with opposable thumbs, giving you a level of sleight of hand that will be hard to match.

On the other hand, being a pony would make you average at best compared to the others, unless you got really lucky. As I said, you can probably not expect to be Rainbow Dash levels of fast or Twilight levels of adept at magic right away, if ever. You'd be a pony among many, and there's a real chance you simply bring nothing noteworthy to the table.

Being a human ensures you would be unique, but in what way is the question. You might be able to knit a mean sweater, but what else can a human actually offer the pony race to make yourself worthwhile that a unicorn or pegasus can't do as well, if not better? And when it comes down to it, just how welcoming would ponies be to a completely unknown race but dropping out of the sky, perhaps litteraly?

Discuss!
