#mylittlepony - #The Kirinification Project

The Kirinification Project

So this latest episode has gotten me thinking, what if we had Kirins introduced earlier in the series? What characters could easily be shifted into the role of a Kirin without seriously overhauling their backstories and characters and would add some flavor to an otherwise bland or forgettable pony?

I was really only able to imagine one serious example myself. King Sombra. Not only would the appearance match more or less but one could easily shift his being an Umbrum pony to that of a Nirik. Still ostrichsized by the Crystal Ponies, sans Radiant Hope, and tortured by the Crystal Heart Sombra would bury his sadness and anger until he that fateful day when he discovers that she is set off for Princess Celestia's school. So when he runs out into the wastes it is not Queen Ravia that contacts him but rather his pent up and buried anger and sadness turning him into a Nirik on an almost permanent basis, giving a good lesson about how buring your emotions is incredibly unhealthy and would add to the whole depression angle he seems to have in the comics, and so the story would continue on as normal.

Only sticking point would be if Kirin/Nirik magic could turn Princess Amore into stone like he was as an Umbrum, but since we don't know and likely won't know that is up to fanon to decide. So for those writers who were unsatisfied with the Queen Ravia Umbrum stuff we now have an easy alternative for those who wish to write and include King Sombra in a story as the new hotness that are the Kirin.

What do the rest of y'all think? Are there any ponies that could have been shifted into being Kirin without too much hassle to make them more interesting or as an alternative to their backstory like my example above? Let me know in the comments below.
