Are Ponies Upsetting the Balance of Power in Equestria?
We already know that ponies have dramatically effected the environment in Equestria. They have planted apple orchards in deserts, freely manipulate the weather, and even control the rising of the sun and moon.
More than that, we've seen that they use magic to keep the stormy northern weather pushed back, the tree of Harmony (which we now Know was planted by Starswirl and the other Pillars) to hold the wild growth of the Everfree Forest in check, and have even paved over and buried some of the darkest parts of Equestria where even the brave once feared to tread.
While this is obviously all good stuff for the ponies, is this actually good for the land? Yes, the environment the ponies have sculpted out of the wilderness is friendly and inviting, and for the most part peaceful, but I have to wonder if some of the monster attacks they have suffered over the years might not have been due in some part to the ponies spreading their territory, and their influence, into environments that have no been so welcoming to their meddling.
Originally the Everfree Forest was this wild haunted place because the ponies couldn't control it. While it's still full of monsters, for the most part no one seems to bat and eyelash about plunging into its depths anymore.
I can't help but wonder if, as they tame more and more of Equestria, that the ponies may be harming the land in some way. I also can't help wondering if Equestria itself might be resisting the ponies, and that's what the monster attacks are all about.
It's something to think about anyways.
