#mylittlepony - #I admit it, I was wrong and I’m sorry for judging

I admit it, I was wrong and I'm sorry for judging

I was wrong about My Little Pony, and I'm sorry because I always judged those who liked this show passed the recommended age (never openly but always in my mind. I would never and never will make fun of anyone verbally or bully anyone for liking what they enjoy like that. It was silent judgment). Get ready for a long post, there's a TL;DR at the bottom if you don't have the time! Here's my story on how I got into My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.

I'm a full time student and I also work full time 40 hours a week. Juggling school, work, and my social life was getting really stressful. This is my average day every single week until school is finished for the semester: wake up -> shower/eat -> go to class -> right after class (and I mean right after class) drive across the city to work -> depending on when my class gets out I worked until 11pm the latest to meet my 40 hours.

I was desperately trying to find a way to not be stressed and thought to myself that I just needed play a relaxing game and that would help me a little on my down time and it has to be on the phone so I can play whenever I needed to (I was against the idea to take medicine). I started searching the AppStore and came across My Little Pony: Magic Princess. A world building simulator type iOS game (and maybe on android. Sorry I don't know). It's a really light hearted game and had tons of mini games within it aside from just building your town. It was actually really enjoying building my little ponyville and playing the mini games. Little did I know it had small connections to the actual series.

I got a little further in the game and unlocked a rhythm mini game section in the game. It had a few of what I thought was game only original songs and I really liked them. One particular song I liked was the Cafeteria Song. I looked it up on YouTube to listen to it because the game only let you play the mini game for each song it had once every x-amount of time. What I saw was kinda shocking to me. It was fully animated and not because a YouTuber took the time to animate it. To my surprise it was part of a move, the Equestria Girls movies, particularly the first movie. At first I was already confused at the game when I first unlocked it and now at the movie I just discovered because the game I was playing was about ponies and these are human like ponies I guess I could say. After some more research I learned why there was a human like world and a pony world. (I leave it at that just in case this post intrigues someone later on to watch it)

Later that night I googled it to go watch the movie because I wanted to know how the song came about. I got 5 minutes into the movie and felt like I was missing A LOT of important details and didn't want to continue on. So I told myself that I would watch whatever came before the first movie to better understand the situation. After a little more research I found there was 3 seasons before the movie and at the time I was thinking "thankfully it's only 3 season. Thought I would have to watch the whole thing" but I did not know those 3 seasons and movie would open me up to a whole new world.

I began watching the first season and it took me about a week to watch because I was binge watching it. Not binge watching it because I wanted to watch the movie quickly but because I got lost in the show and found myself enjoying it 100%. I was laughing and smiling a lot and I completely forgot about all my stress I had. I only watched it at night because I didn't want anyone to know what I was watching but later didn't really care what other thought and watched it during the day when I didn't have work that day or was just waiting for for friends. If they honestly made fun of me because of what I like then they aren't really good friends (which none of them did). I would still stay up late watching 5-8 episodes a night and every morning I actually felt refreshed and well rested.

Well two more season later, I QUICKLY got to the first movie and at first I was streaming the TV show online for free but I couldn't find the movie. I looked on iTunes to rent it and I saw it there. I rented it, watched it, and I really enjoyed it. I was thinking at the end of the movie that I did tell myself "I will only watch up to the first movie"... but I just couldn't bring myself to stop watching it. For the first time in 3 semester of nonstop busyness, I was smiling and happy, really relaxed. After every episode I said "just one more episode" because I wanted to know what would happen next. I decided to support the creators and bought the previous seasons on iTunes and the movie I had just watch. Not only that but I bought every season I watched (and it was all 9 seasons + the movies I could get on iTunes).

I watched every single episode and movie in order from a nice list I found online. I didn't even skip the opening or closings at all. I watch every single one. Slowly started humming to it without realizing it.

Also Here's a quick list of how to watch My Little Pony Friendship is Magic in order for those in the future. I had a hard finding finding it for some reason but I was probably looking in the wrong places

  • My Little Pony Friendship is Magic (Seasons 1-3)
  • My Little Pony: Equestria Girls
  • My Little Pony Friendship is Magic (Season 4)
  • My Little Pony: Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks
  • My Little Pony Friendship is Magic (Season 5)
  • My Little Pony: Equestria Girls: Friendship Games
  • My Little Pony Friendship is Magic (Seasons 6-7)
  • My Little Pony: The Movie 2017
  • My Little Pony Friendship is Magic (Season 8)
  • My Little Pony: Best Gift Ever 2018
  • My Little Pony Friendship is Magic (Season 9)
  • My Little Pony: Equestria Girls: Holidays Unwrapped

And that's as of right now. Possibly later: (I may be wrong. I'm still new to this) but that's with some research.

  • My Little Pony Movie 2021 (an untitled movie for 2021. Not yet released)

(After proofreading this post I checked the sidebar of this subreddit and saw there's a link to watch this all already in order lol. I took a little time to type this so I'm still leaving this in)

To be honest I didn't think it would have an actual story and thought it was something like every episode be a completely different episode with no regards to the previous episodes. Watching them in order (and I mean in order with movies) was very crucial because it built up a lot of foundation.

I started it late January (probably around the 23rd of 2020 I think) and I just finished it last night (April 4, 2020 for those who read this in the future) I didn't get to watch it every time because I was preparing for test or worked late after school that day but I always found myself browsing this subreddit. (Trying to stay away from spoilers and that was really hard when you want to read everything!)

My favorite episode would have to be "The Perfect Pear" . I love how despite their family history, love hold no bounds. (A little Romeo a Juliet vibe in that regards) but I love the My Little Pony's take on it.

My favorite pony would have to be Clear Sky. She's a really minor character but I just love her. I even named my Animal Crossing Island "Clear Sky" and I'm currently working on a island flag with her cutie mark. I just got done adding the first 2 lyrics melody of the My Little Pony opening to my island music. Now every time I talk to someone or the bells rings I hear it 🥰

And I also love the last episode and how it ended how it all started. It started with opening a book and "once upon a time" and ended with the end with the book closing for closure. I didn't think it would end this way but I was really glad when it did.

I'm a little sad now that I've finished the complete series but after some browsing in this subreddit, I've found out about Fallout Equestria which I will be reading for sure on my downtime at work. I look forward to reading a lot more fanfics now that I don't have to worry about getting spoiled.

Sorry for the long wall of text. I'm glad to have found that game. Without it I probably would have never even bothered to watch the series. I'm happy and really relaxed now and I'm happy to share my experience with you guys!

If you guys have recommendations on some fan fictions I should read, please let me know.

I wanted this to be the first post here for me. I look forward to talking with you guys on this subreddit.

TL;DR: I was really stressed out with work, school, and social life (not that I need one right now) and came across a my little pony game. I wanted to listen to a song it had and found out it was part of the Equestria Girls movie. I made it a commitment to watch JUST the first few seasons up until the first movie. I did just that and I couldn't stop myself from watching the rest of the series after watching them. I ended up buying every single season and movie I can on iTunes and watched the whole series. Today (April 4, 2020 from January 23, 2020) just over 2 months or so, I've finished the series. Absolutely loved every minute of it and now I'm glad to have found that game. Can't wait to start reading a lot of fan fictions!
