In Lord of the Rings, King Théoden speaks about a "three day gallop". How feasible is such a thing?
"Théoden: It is a three day gallop to Minas Tirith and none of my riders can bear you as a burden."
Is this really possible? What would the best way to cover maximum distance over 3 days be, and have your horses still in fighting shape at the end?
