How fast could a horse travel for two days?
Please let me know if there's a better place to ask this question.
I'm writing a medieval fantasy novel in which characters travel a distance that is "two days' ride" via horseback. They are traveling as fast as they can over the course of the two days while resting at sundown (ride, sleep, ride, destination). How fast could a horse travel over those two ~12 hour periods? I.e. would it be a walk, trot, canter, gallop, etc.
