Thoughts on sickle hocks??

Added side view My friend is looking at this 10 yo Morgan gelding for lower level dressage and trail riding, and our barn owner noted that he is 'extremely sickle hocked.' He does have a bit of a swing in the walk, but trot and canter look normal. Was used for trail riding in the mountains with no issues. Edited to add that he was checked out and given thumbs up from a vet and chiropractor and passed the flexion check, and could probably be improved with better shoeing/trimming, my friend is just concerned about possible issues down the road.

In general, do sickle hocks always cause lameness? What sort of maintenance or issues could arise using a sickle hocked horse for light work? Any preventative tips?

Thank you in advance!!
