How would you want to control a horse in Virtual Reality? ~From a game developer

Hello!

I'm a designer working on a development team for a new virtual reality game called Realm Quest. I was curious what you all might think would be good mechanisms and natural actions used for controlling a horse in a VR setting.

The player will have one controller in each hand that we can track the position of, as well as people's headsets. So using just your hands and the position of your head, how would you control a horse? How would you move the reigns or lean to get the animal to do what you want it to? What are some of the things that would indicate the horse is about to buck you off? If I can't think of a visual que we can just make the controllers vibrate to indicate something is wrong.

What do you think?

EDIT: What are some examples of things you shouldn't do, or signs you're doing something wrong? What are some things a horse would do if it doesn't want to do what you want it to do? What is a sign you're going to get bucked soon? Because it's a game we want there to be some difficulty involved and some risk of failure.
